Portland will very likely lose the game tomorrow vs spurs. No other teams close to .500 except Rockets. Just win at home vs bucks in xmas eve, we will sit tight on No.8. and stay there, give a chance to JVG to replay the history! or fired.
win the game that will put us at .500? what are the chances of that happening... it looks like another bobcats run....lose away and then lose at home to the same team within 5 days.
Locks the #8 seed? Get there first. Nothing's "locked" by January 1st, especially when the season doesn't end until after April 1st.
Ooooohhhhhhh!!! The Eighth Seed!!!!! NO Freakin Way!!!!!! Only Jeff Van Dumpy can lead a team with Yao and Tmac to an eight place finish.
While we can hit the 0.500 mark soon, we'll have needed a pansy schedule in December to have gotten there (and still managed to get humiliated by the Bobcats twice, the Bucks, and absolutely run out of the building by the Mavs). We won a grand total of 2 games against winning teams this past month, and it took TMac's miracle for one, and a Mutombo shot to LeBron's eye for the other. In fact, consider this fun stat: Since the season started, we are a pathetic 3-8 against teams with a winning record. Our record against teams that are currently at or below 0.500? 11-7 We have 29 games remaining against teams that are currently above 0.500, and 24 against those at or below. If we keep up our current pace, that would equate to a 37-45 record. And I rounded up. The sad reality is, we don't belong with the big boys. Not this season. Not until we develop a real roster around Yao and McGrady and get a coach that can develop players and offense. Evan
Strong words my fren. PS. The Sun will very likely finsih as the #1 seed by the end of April 2005 and the Spurs the #2 seed. How I would love to finish as the #6 or #7 seed in the West - anything to avoind the Suns. Oh well that is a long way away from here. Just beat the Bucks baby!!!
I like your confidence. I just see too many match up problems for us against them (remember the SuperSonics gave us fits in the mid to late 1990s). Hopefully with the new look team the problems will be eliminated.
it's really not confidence! i don't think we have the manpower to beat either team in a series. but i'd take my chances in the playoffs against a running team in its first playoff appearance in a while as opposed to the san antonio spurs who slow it down and have been there, done that.
Point is we still won these games and as for last nites game, the Cavs shot better in second half than they did in the first when Bron was on the floor. They would have won whether Bron was on the floor or not. Give them a bit of credit.
Maybe, maybe not. LeBron could've gone off for 40 in the second half, and left the Rockets in his dust.
Game last nite reminded me a lot of the one from last year, at the Toyota center, the Rockets were playing their style of game and controlling the tempo. Also, I think we would have seen a lot more Yao in the 2nd half and the way he was hitting shot, we could have had Yao and T-mac score 30 plus. I just think they would have won regardless.
It's true, they were up even with LeBron in during the first half, they very well could have held on. Doesn't negate the rest of my post. $20 to the tip jar says the Rockets miss the playoffs. I'm a fan, but a lot of people need some cold water splashed in their face. The reality is, this team as it's assembled, is going nowhere this season. Evan
I agree with Evan-we are struggling to approach .500 with a pansy schedule in Dec. We are entering a tough period- we will be lucky to finish the season at .500 - no way we make the playoffs at .500-- winning 41 games.... We are regressing- cannot be blamed on the players - they are not making the deal that dumped Jackson....
