with watching the last few games it looks as if francis, ming and rice are the 3 stars of the team. that is the new big three! go rockets
It's funny...i have only seen Tracy McGrady drop 18 in a quarter this year...oh yeah..and GLen Rice. Swallow your words. GLen is a tremendous addition to this team, both his scoring and his leadership. If there is any Big 3 on this team, it better have GLen Rice in it.
If our big three includes Rice... we're in deep trouble. Rice seems to be turning into our three point specialist, which is nice, but DO NOT say that he is one of our BIG THREE. We got too many good talented young players for Rice to be one of three stars on this team.
Knee-Jerk! Up until the last two games, I think Rice has played poorly in about 27 consecutive Rockets' games. I mean, saying he's our "Big Three" is almost like saying Mobley is expendable or can't fit in to the new Rockets system after Yao Ming has a couple good games. There's just hasn't been enough time or evidence to make claims like that. In my opinion, the biggest thing the Rockets are in need of is consistency. Rice having 2 good games out of the 29 he has played with Rockets isn't enough to call him a consistent player. There is not one player on the Rockets team that has a good game night in and night out. And I'm not saying a player is not entitled to a bad game now and again, but with the Rockets it seems to be about 50-50 or below. I really can't think of one player on the Rockets who has had more good games than bad this season. Well, maybe Steve, but after getting off to a great start he's really simmered down the last couple of games (until last night). I really think this is the Rockets biggest problem. I can't even tell which players on the Rockets are good and which ones are not! After one game, I'll say "man this guy should start!" The next game it's like "get this guy off the court!" Until we get some consistent performances from some players, we're going to be up and down all season long.
DCkid, Last year's games shouldn't be considered. He was out of shape, and played on a knee that needed surgery. I think the evaluation started at this year's training camp, when he came in healthy and in-shape. It took him a while to get his legs under him and acclimated, but haven't you seen him become more MOBILE overall recently? I've certainly noticed, and the double teams Ming is recieving is going to give Rice open looks all season long.
Olajuwon, Drexler, Barkley Francis, Rice, Ming Big 3??, not quite to that level yet, but lets hope it does!
Houston has more than a big 3, just that everyone can't all score big numbers, francis, ming, rice, mobley, griffen, oh yeah, that's your future starting five. Houston will be the best team in the league whenever the players know when each player understands when it is his time to step up
