Rockets' Griffin to be arraigned on assault charge

Suspended Rockets forward Eddie Griffin faces one less charge related to allegations of a fight with a woman who claims he beat her and fired a gun in her direction in October.

Griffin's arraignment on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Wednesday was postponed to Jan. 14, said Derek Hollingsworth, one of his lawyers. But a second misdemeanor charge of assault with bodily injury was dismissed.

The woman, Joann Romero, has accused Griffin of hitting her three times in the face and shooting at her as she drove away sometime before dawn on Oct. 25 from his home in a gated community in southwest Houston. He was charged last month.

Griffin was suspended from the team Oct. 16 for a series of missed practices and a skipped flight to Sacramento.

In October Griffin, voluntarily checked into a hospital to get help with unidentified problems.

Eddie Chernoff, Romero's attorney, previously has said his client and Griffin had a romantic relationship going back at least two years and that she had been invited over on the night of the conflict. Griffin's lawyers have said they and the prosecutors have different views of what happened that night.

Also Wednesday, a separate case involving a charge of mar1juana possession stemming from an April arrest was set for trial Jan. 20, Hollingsworth said.

Hopefully this means that Eddie will be able to tell his side of the story. At the very least, it will be interesting to hear it. Hopefully everything will work out for him so he can return to the team at some point this season.

I'd say griffens window of opportunity to get back on the team is narrowing by the week, I'd like to see him get one more chance under they new system. The team play completely differently to the way they did last season, would be good to see how he adjusts and fits in to it.

I am under the assumption EG's tenure with the Rox is over. For his sake I hope this gets over and done and he can move on with his life.

    Give up on him.

Eddie Griffin will never wear a Rockets jersey again.

It's possible that he'll never play an NBA game again.

The more important or interesting news would be how he did in the treatment center. Is he all set? Is basketball a positve or a negative in his life going forward? etc etc.

I agree. Not because he's a Rocket, but because he's a young kid that screwed up and got his act together.

    Thats crazy.

Yeah I want someone on the team who's homelife destroys the team chemistry. I want someone on my team who sheds a negative light on the organization on a common basis. I want team members who don't care about the team only where they are going to get their next fix and who will pay for it, and don't bother showing up to practice. If he scored 30 points a game and the team is in chaos we still have gotten nowhere.

    One word. Jailblazers.

    Nuff Said.

    Huh?

    Next fix?

he was busted with pot...not heroin..or crack.
Pot smokers dont worry about when they are going to get their next fix.

and he make smore than enough to afford even the best Columbian on a regular basis and not have to worry about going broke.

If I understood you correctly, methinks you assume too much.
