We had horrible luck last season and a good share of bad luck this season with T-Mac and Snyder both hurting. Maybe it's luck. Maybe it's just statistics. But the teams we're facing in this tough time are facing real bad luck of their own. First, the Clippers are without Cassell. They lose Tim Thomas in the first quarter to TWO injuries. Then they lose Ross to back spasms. NO/OKC Hornets were having a great season, and now Peja and West both need surgery. Gasol just came back, but the Grizzlies are languishing in last place while Gasol keeps telling the media he wants to play for a contender. Denver have been hit pretty hard too with the suspension. Now, it's the Blazers. Randolph wakes up with a mystery injury. He's on crutches. We could take this game. The Clippers win and a possible win in Portland could go a long way in putting us near Dallas and San Antonio following a TOUGH chunk of the schedule. T-mac is due back against San Antonio although I'd rather he sat that one out too. Randolph injury link I hope we go out and grab this opportunity by the balls. Every win counts this season, especially since the Rox are in a freakin tough division. Unfortunate for the rest of the West, but fortunate for us. Let's get some revenge from the teams that preyed on us last season.
I was actually thinking if T-mac can not play this season, Rox better tank it and hope for the #1 pick for Greg Oden, then Rox would have the twin tower plus a healthy T-mac for next season, or Rox could trade one of Yao or Oden, and together with T-mac for Kobe, D-wade or Lebron.
"Wood" is American slang for erection. "Knock on wood" is American slang for punching someone's erection, which is what Americans do when they are trying to get lucky.
Knocking on wood is a superstition to avoid creating bad luck. As for tanking, that's ridiculous. With a healthy Sura, Snyder and an in-shape Bonzi this team could make the playoffs easily. Plus, T-mac's back is not so simple to tackle. It could flare up while he's sitting on a couch in his living room. Making him sit out the season won't fix it. It is just a random occurence and we have to get used to that and hope we get lucky. The same thing that happened against the Wizards could happen again and he would be fine, or he could be on the bench in street clothes and his back will flare up. Not to mention the silly risk of tanking for the #1. Even if we start Deke, Novak, Snyder, Spanoulis and Lucas for the remainder of the season, we are likely to win more games than the worst team in the league. Forget that the worst record doesn't guarantee the number one pick, and no one but Oden could be effective immediately in making this team so dominant that it's worth wasting a season with the potential that his one has.
Well, I hate to break it to you, but we would probably have to lose the rest of our games to get the worst record. Also, I'm assuming your trade ideas were a joke...
That is not a good idea in any way, shape, or form. Like many people pointed out, losing every game doesn't guarantee first pick in the draft. So thats mistake one. Second: No player's career is guaranteed. You never really know who will be good, who won't outside the top 1 or 2 players. And finally, ANY TRADE INVOLVING YAO SHOULD BE BLASPHAMY. The guy is just entering his prime and his potential is still not maximize. Just imagine if he can rest a couple more summers and get his stamina up. WOW!
If the Rockets were gonna tank for Oden, they needed to plan that out before the season started like the Spurs did in 96-97 when everyone conveniently got hurt en route to scoring Tim Duncan.
Dont' forget about Lamar Odom, who was injured early in the game in Houston and didn't play in the re-match a few days later. And Larry Hughes was still out with an injury when Cleveland was in town earlier in the month. But hardly any team had 2 all-star players miss so many games as the Rockets did last season.
