My father-in-law got me an XM radio for my birthday, and I was just curious. Can you get NBA (any other sport for that matter) games on XM Radio at all? It was a passing thought, but it just occured to me how cool that would be.

    Thanks.

I was at Circuit City today and was looking at XM.

What's the monthly cost and I guess why is it so great?

I would doubt you could hear Rockets games on XM; probably some copyright laws or something.

    Stupid FCC.

But then again, you might be able to.

I'm almost positive it's $9.95 a month. Actually, my father-in-law is paying for my subscription as part of the gift. The draw is that you get over a hundred stations basically everywhere. And the stations are very good, with no commercials. They're a lot like the stations you can get with a dish or digital cable, but there are more of them, plus you can get the sports stations and all the talk radio stations if you're into that.

XM radio is a godsend if you travel a lot, because anyone that travels knows that radio stations are nonexistant away from cities, and even so you may end up listening to 40's music or Tejano for hours because you can't get anything else.

It's also really nice if you have specific (and refined) music tastes, and want to narrow down what you're listening to. For instance, my own dad likes "Hank's Place" a lot, (old school country music) while my father-in-law likes experimental music a lot, which has it's own station.

Where I live there's only one local sports radio station, and they don't talk about much other than the Utah Jazz, and college stuff. So you can see that I'm a little anxious to remedy that.

    :)

Oh yeah, Circuit City is a pretty good place to buy it (according to my research) if you wanna get it from a store.

I've decided to get it off Ebay, and I'm saving almost $100. (my father-in-law is actually just funding it, he didn't give me the actual stuff) I'm going with Delphi cause you can use it in your car or at home.

Just in case you were interested.

    :)

Thanks, rH. Kind of what I expected, but it was worth hoping. At least I'll be able to get all the major sports stations now. :)

    Thanks for the help.
