If college players are trash then whats your basis for saying Sheppard is gonna be more than a role player? He hasnt done anything that shown that.

The only basis for his high ceiling is the 50% 3 pt he shot in college.

I’m saying reed has a chance, while to me edey does not. His lack of mobility caps what he can be, as he will always be a liability on defense come playoff time. Obviously neither of them have done anything yet, it’s been 3 games.

Sheppard is the only one who hasnt done anything, Edey has averaged 8/6 in only 16 mpg.

Edey may be unplayable in the playoffs but so far Grizz already getting value from their 9th pick unlike us and we spent a top 3 pick.

Zach Edey is a late bloomer, older player as a 22 year old Rookie. Played late as a Player. Zach Edey is a solid player to Role Player.

Reed Sheppard is 20 years old, His ceiling, skills is very high. All Star Talent for sure.
Ime Udoka needs to use Reed Sheppard more because Fred VanVleet is struggling.

I like your take except for the benching of Edey during the playoffs. Please go back and look at my draft posts to see how this guy raises his game and dominates come tournament time. He took Clingan to the shed and his team to the championship game. That would be like saying to bench Ming (or our other great centers) in the playoffs. Again, Reed is a fine pick and the consensus one, but not the right pick for a team that should have been looking toward the future need of building a team to stop VW. Trust me when I say VW is going to be a major problem for this team the next ten years and we had a rare shot at getting someone almost his size but stronger to neutralize the threat. Guys like Edey are rare opportunities that you get a chance to draft once every 10-15 years. There’s small guys who hit high percentage threes in college coming out on an annual basis. We were gifted a rare opportunity and blew it.

He dominates because he's an old man playing against kids in college. How will he play defense against luka? or against OKC? or boston? he will get embarrassed. Even Rudy, who is LIGHT YEARS better and more mobile had struggled at times. This guy has no chance in hell come playoff time, just a waste of a roster spot.

Heard ridiculous arguments like this time and again when I posted originally that we should draft Edey. Wonder why, if he sucks so bad, Vegas has him as the favorite by twice as much over all other rookies for the ROY award. Guess you know more than the Vegas experts!

Weird, as well, that you are a fan of Amen Thompson given your thesis about a man playing against kids…..

Couldn’t care less about what anyone does this year. Sheppard is a young rookie, he is gonna suck. I care about who can make an impact in the playoffs in 3-4 years, and that’s not edey

Rockets took Sheppard because they needed 3 point shooting and a FVV replacement. Also it was clear the Rockets were committed to Sengun.

Yes, Edey looks amazing so far and probably will be a walking double-double and likely win roty.

And regardless of who you have at center, Wemby will dominate them once he reaches his prime, the dude is just a freak and you already see the flashes of superstardom in his 2nd year.

How has he looked amazing? he commits 5 fouls in his 17 mpg and they're -24/100 in his minutes, getting completely crushed. Grizz offense improved by 5/100 when he sits and defense improves by over 30/100 when he sits. Of course he's early and all of that is mostly noise but he has looked awful.

Benching in playoffs is just an option (under rookie contract).

I'm a believer teams making the final 4 in each conference have an abundance of 3 & D wings that run the big Bigs off the court.

I expect this trend to continue to the point it's the top 6 teams of each conference. Then top 8. And so on and so on.

Edey was out running Sengun down the court in our game two.

Those in doubt can rewatch the tape
