I heard Bill and "Air" Bullard, mention during the start of last night's telecast, that there was a lot of fighting and bickering amongst the Rockets players in practice. They actually quoted Battier mentioning it. Any word on whats going on here? I thought the addition of Francis, James, and Bonzi with Mcgrady would take some time to gel. All are very vocal players, so I hope this doesnt take a negative impact on our chemistry. Has some news crack about this yet? Go Rockets!
this is good news. seems like they care about the season. it would be bad if they were so nonchalant about practice (Iverson).
umm its all over the boards they were going at it aggresively playing "game like" games during the practices and the one where Franchise got a tech for being pissed off that Yao/Tmac getting the superstar calls
that's the kind of chemistry that we need. you know, the job-barry or tmac type of locker chemistry don't win big games.
I hope it's nothin serious. Well you know new team new people, etc. I do not think it could break our chemistry
With so many egos and stubborn, hot-tempered players on this team (i.e: Francis, MJ, Bonzi)... I'm not surprised to hear this. However, hopefully this does not translate onto the basketball court or turn into some type of Charles Barkley-Scottie Quitten hatefest. That was a horrible time to be a Rockets fan...
Chemistry is overrated. I'm glad we brought back Stevie, MJ, and Bonzi. We need to have a few players with an 'edge' instead of a roster full of 'awww shucks, we'll get 'em next time' nice guys. A few fights in practice is fine with me, as long as no one gets hurt. Just so everyone is nice and salty once the season starts. And even moreso when the playoffs start.
Let em get mad at each other, as long as they take it out on their opponents. Considering the daunting task ahead of them, facing the gauntlet of juggernaut teams in the West, this team could definitely use a mean streak. It's time we got a little more bully in this team.
I don't think so. To reword: Chemistry without an edge doesn't take you anywhere. Guys with a competitive that leads them to go at in practice with 100% effort is a fantastic thing. Guys fighting in practice because of egos is a bad thing. We've got 5 starting roles, and may have 9 guys that all feel they should be starting. Most likely, Alston-James-Francis is going to be a heated match for the nod. It wasn't a good thing for the Nuggets when Kenyon Martin and Nene Hilario got into fistfights because both thought they were the starting 4. It wasn't a good thing for the Wizards when Brendon Haywood and Etan Thomas got into fist fights over starting at the 5. Whoever ends up as #3 in the PG pecking order is very likely to cause problems in the locker room. Something needs to give. Evan
It is good for your team to fight. It's fun when they punch and kick each other. I would prefer our team hate each other than gel. You are dumb. Kenny Smith Sucks.
This occured last week during full-game scrimages. It was the same time when Francis got T'ed up during practice and there was a thread about it at the time. It's overblown. Guys were competing during practice ...that's all. If we start seeing this in games, then I'll start to be worried.
Just curious that they just bickered or they actually fought with fists, etc? Did anyone get injured during the process?
Can't be as bad as the practices at UK this past week. They are getting so physical that two players now have broken noses and will be wearing those ugly masks at the beginning of the season.
your friend needs to practice against 10 year olds at wheel of fortune. i doubt the fighting was kung fu in practice. when you get passionate players like Mike James and Steve on the court, that adds fire.
We need guys to absorb some suspensions that will come from people taking cheap shots at Yao. Desmond Mason, Nick Collison, anyone? I think the result would have been much different had our current team been on court.
well, I was wondering if anyone saw Bonzi wearing the bandage on his head last night. I also noticed that Steve didn't seem to happy after the game when they interviewed him. They asked him about starting and he was saying that it wasn't up to him, he's not old enough to be a coach yet, etc. I think he was expecting to start and isn't happy about it.
