With the economy the way it is, a late 1st isn't exactly the most appealing thing in the world. Morey's plan of looking through the discarded pile for players like Wafer might work well too. Perhaps White is our "pick" for next year?
With Les' rather poor financial situation, I don't seed us shelling out cash for a mid/late firt rounder that might or might not pan out. Morey will probably have to (as one posted said) dig the discarded pile for a player. (e.g. Wafer)
we traded our first rounder away in the trade for ron. traded the grizz second rounder back to the grizz to get rid of steve. we should have our own second which is pretty much worthless. morey said they might buy a pick if they can get someone they really like. however, this would most likely be an early second rounder to avoid the guaranteed contract of a first round pick. i doubt they do anything like that though because they have to resign ron, von, and maybe even white. all the while they want to stay under the LT. so without knowing exactly what your paying these guys, how do u know how much you can spend on a rookie? draft or no draft, the rockets are do for a VERY interesting offseason in free agency (ron/von) and trade (tmac).
I really hope we "buy" a pick or two. Of course, adding quality young players like Lowry, Wafer and [hopefully] James White certainly helps offset our lack of options once the draft rolls around. Still, I would to see us get into the mix of things.
The Kings have our first round pick from the Ron Artest trade. The Spurs have our second round pick from the Scola trade.
Ah, there will be no annual draft coverage for Clutch this year? Sux0rs, unless we can buy one.. but I guess it's not really that hard to buy a pick these days.
well if we do have a late second rounder, I think we should take a look at AJ Abrams from UT cause he can shoot lights out which is exactly what the Rockets need. a sharpshooter.
this draft is weak.... we have enough young players in Landry, Brooks, Wafer, Lowry, White, Hayes.....
Yes. And unlike before we don't have a clear-cut need at any position to give us incentive to look for a pick. Swing-> Battier, Ron with Wafer and White as developing talent. PF-> Scolandry with Hayes already as 3rd string PG-> Lowbrooks needs all the time in the rotation. Wfaer has been shown to be able to play pg in a pinch since we have a ton of scorers anyway. C-> Dorsey? I guess we need a 3rd pg and a backup C because Dorsey looks like a bust/RA isn't willing to play him/he's still injured (its been months now though), as well as Wafer insurance. Other than that I can't think of anything. If its 3rd string talent though, I'd rather bring Barrera, Strawberry and Harris whom we could all sign for the min then get a 2nd rounder who probably won't pan out.
White is our player for next year. IMO, he is exactly what we need, someone who will dunk on anyone that came in his way. Thats what i believe we lacked for the past few years.
Hes Good but i dont think he'll be good in the NBA..he's a bit undersized for an SG..i dont think we should buy any draft picks..we're already loaded with young talent and we should develop James White because he looks like he has potential..
Bill and Clyde talked about this during the TWolves game. They said pretty much that same thing. That White could essentially be our draft pick for the year.
I think his 10-Day ends on Tuesday, but there has been nothing in the news related to us signing him for the rest of the season.
Well I like White but if he is really our pick for next season then we should begin seeing what we really have in him. I'm not going to compare him to Green because he actually knocked down the shots he had effortlessly...but I like White, it is a better color than Green.
