Everybody has been complaining about our team that we always got beaten up on the boards, especially on the defensive end, but strangely I found that our team actually protecting the defensive boards quite well. Here's what I found at the ESPN site:

    link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/stati...2005&seasontype=2&avg=none&order=true&split=0

    Team Defensive Rebounding %
    1. Detroit Piston .741
    1. San Antonio Spurs .741
    3. New Jersey Nets .730
    4. Miami Heat .728
    5. Cleveland Cavaliers .726
    6. Milwaukee Bucks .725
    7. Houston Rockets .724:eek:
    8. Atlanta Hawks .720
    8. Minnesota T-Wolves .720
    10. Utah Jazz .719
    .
    .
    .
    26. Los Angeles Clippers .686
    26. Portland Trailblazers .686
    28. Toronto Raptors .685
    29. Sacramento Kings .675
    20. Phoenix Suns .671

I wondered how we got up there... Maybe we're just inconsistent...

How are we doing with offensive rebounds?

Our rebounding still stinks. But it stinks less since we got Sura into the lineup. I mean after all, in the Bucks game Sura had TEN rebounds with the next closest guy having FOUR! Ridiculous!

Why is UTAH the best all-around rebounding team in basketball this year, even with out AK47?!? They're well below .500 also...

Is it a wonder we can't capitalize on fast breaks?

No Offensive rebounds = No fast break points

We certainly don't get enough steals or cause enough turnovers to the opposing offense to get them as well by that route either.

    Uh,

Tons of Offensive rebounds=No fast break points

You can't get out and run if you are already there.

Defensive rebounds, blocks, and steals (mainly) lead to more fast break chances than offensive rebounding...

edit: it should be Charlotte Bobcats.

Add offensive and defensive together and see if we get more than 1.000, if not we still need to improve, that means we are still getting outrebounded, and the Rockets stats show we are getting outrebounded by a lot.

    rebounding % = own reb/(own reb + opp reb)

defensive rebounding % = own def reb/(own def reb + opp off reb)

offensive rebounding % = own off reb/(opp def reb + own off reb)

our rebounding % is just .491

This is more ammo against all the bashing of the 'supporting cast'. Turns out our so-called pathetic power forwards are doing just fine. Less shots = less total rebounds. The low offensive rebound numbers are a product of JVG wanting the whole team to run back on defense after every opponent shot goes up. Thanks for posting this.
