Bonzi is saying all the right things. Gotta give him credit for that. If he says he will "be the biggest cheerleader," why isn't he ever on the bench cheering?

No complaints: Bonzi Wells is still holding out hope that he will be activated prior to the playoffs, but he said he's willing to be "a really big cheerleader" if that doesn't happen.

"I'd love to play, but we're winning and I'm all about the team," Wells said. "As long as we continue to win, I'm never going to be bigger than the team. So I'm just going to ride the coattails of the rest of the guys and hopefully, we'll continue to win as a team. I'm trying not to be a distraction around here."

Wells went on the inactive list on Feb. 28 with a sore left foot. Despite healing from that injury, the Rockets swingman has remained on the inactive list because he hasn't fit into Jeff Van Gundy's 8 1/2-man rotation. Van Gundy reiterated Wednesday that his rotation hasn't changed.

Wells said he understood the coach's position.

"We're on the same page," Wells said. "It's up to him. Coach likes to play a short rotation and he's got his guys that have been playing all year and have been healthy. I'm thinking he's more comfortable with those guys. But you never know. He might call my number tonight or tomorrow. I'm just always going to stay ready."

Bonzi sounds like he's got his head right.

The man is seemingly ready to go in whenever Van Gundy needs him. I hope he gets a chance.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think while he may not be happy playing for 2 million dollars, he's more than happy to go on vacation for 2 million dollars.

Not really impressed by anything he's said, because actions speak louder than words, and his latest action was to decline minutes that were offered to him.

I wish Bonzi did complain - why give up so easily? No fight? No effort to prove himself. No pride?

    Sad.

If he did that, it'd be a lose lose situation as well. I was tempted to start a thread on how to beat the Rockets by simply fronting Yao, but it's all out of frustration from the recent struggles of the Rockets play. We are a very one dimensional team right now with maybe two players that can create their own shot. Yao technically is one although if you front him, he can't exactly create anything. McGrady is the other though his shooting % has been off. Bonzi could be that third option and I think tonight's game has proven that Battier simply isn't that third option. He is what he is which is that of a great role player but nothing more.

While I think everyone on this board loathed the ISO days of Francis and Cat, there is a place in the game to simply break your opponent down and drive in the paint. Something only McGrady and Alston can do consistently. However Alston often clangs his tear drop runner, and McGrady is often scared to bang his body in the paint and isn't as explosive a finisher. If the Rockets can come up with a way of getting either a quick backup PG from just about any of the gunning playoff teams in the offseason, or get a servicable big PG akin to Ron Harper in his Bulls days instead, the one dimensional play wouldn't be so bad.

Bonzi sounds like he's under the influence of drugs or something. Maybe the brainwashing is complete and he can re-join the team. :)

lol, It does sound like he's been brainwashed or something. The guy sounds almost too nice. Almost too much of a team player. Kinda scary.

IMO, he'd be great against teams that try to go small on us (Suns, Warriors, Mavs, etc). At one time in the GS game tonight, they had Barnes, Ellis, Davis, and Pietrus all on the floor at once. Bonzi could take any of those four down low with his post moves and score. Sure his defense is lagging, but like JVG says, you get in shape by playing games.

Bonzi should be on the active list, parked on the bench. Who cares if he's not playing every day. This was a game (no McGrady) where Bonzi genuinely could have helped us win.
