Same ol Same ol talk... Where are the real questions? Like who are you working a trade for as we speak.
Morey sounds like a complete a-hole in this interview, what an idiot. Talking about stats and what not. If he looked at the games he knows we're not that great at fast breaks and we're not taking advantage of getting stops on defense. The 93-94 Rockets, who were at the bottom for fast break points, were better than us. After a shot there was always a guy running ahead in Max or Kenny. Thorpe or Hakeem could throw the pass and voila: 2 points in 3 second possession.
The most glaring is talking about Budinger, Morey said, "Chander has outplayed someone who gave us very solid minutes a year ago in Chase." Depreciating asset.
-He doesn't once talk about Fast Break points. Pushing the ball in transition, and playing up-tempo has nothing to do with fast breaks. Its about getting into your offensive sets before the defense has a chance to set. Once Defense's set in the NBA its almost impossible to score a high percentage shot, especially easy points in the paint. Newsflash, if the Rockets are last in the league in fast break points, then that means they most likely arent leaking out on defense. Thats not a bad thing. -Im not sure what you are expecting from the Rockets beat writer interviewing Morey a month before the trade deadline. You really think he's going to say that - I should have listened to some of the posters on Clutchfans and given the starting job to Terrence Williams?? Not that anything Morey would say would ever make you happy, actually nothing the Rockets do for you as a fan would ever make someone like you happy, but but the whole point of this interview is get a pulse from the front office on their thoughts so far, and where they see this team in a few months. Guess what, temper you expectations, both positive and negative. Its only a fraction of the way from being completed, and they still have a long way to go. Your judging the book after the first two chapters. -As for Lowry being annointed the best PG in the NBA, he wants Lowry to be able to do this consistently to get the respect among the NBA and put Houston on the map as a destination for FA to play alongside an elite PG.
Agreed, this interview seems like an honest but positive assessment of our team. Morey even admits that while it is possible we may be a playoff team, we are not really a contender at this point, barring further improvements to the team. That seems pretty apparent in watching them this year, and I don't think that is an altogether negative commentary. The team is improving, but still has a way to go to be a contender. I think some people here will criticize Morey no matter what he says.
Wow...complete ownage. Thanks for looking that stat up, ash. I think the word 'idiot' is used far too loosely around this forum than it should be. People are too quick to label someone an idiot, not because what they're saying has no obvious thought behind the words, but because what they're saying is in disagreement with the author's usually-baseless opinion. Sad, really.
