Nice interview as always by Jason. Haven't seen it posted yet. If so please lock it. http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Q_and_A_with_Daryl_Morey-297274-34.html I think this is a question that a lot of people wanted to ask Morey if they had the chance.
[rquoter]"One thing I will add: We shouldn't be talking about a Big Three or a Big anything at this point, but if we're going to talk about that that "Big" stuff then we should be talking about our Big Four, because Shane is such a huge factor for us." -- Morey[/rquoter] I think that's a pretty good indication that Wafer won't be replacing McGrady, Artest, or Battier in the rotation when everyone gets back. If Wafer is getting more than 15-20 minutes a game at that stage, I'd be shocked.
It's no secret that the Rockets are looking to move Luther Head. I think the Rockets will look to add a veteran PG.
it's shocking battier is part of the big 4. luis scola?? battier was nonexistent last night (LITERALLY)
And yet, he was on the floor at the end of the game. Right or wrong, I think the Rockets (including the coaches) value Battier more than any other player on the team outside the "Big Three". They may even value him over Artest.
i agree on head is one who is going to be moved before the trade deadline. if they can't get a player from head trade, they will very well get a future pick.
So many possibilities. T-Mac, Artest, Head, and now Wafer. Moving Head would be a favor to get him to a situation with playing time in his contract year. Wafer will be an unrestricted non-bird free agent with a contract who will most likely eat into the 2010 salary space. I think he's done enough where a non-guaranteed second year on his new contract will not be possible.
I am surprised by how many people do not appreciate or see Battier's impact on our squad....... I am glad our GM does....
I'll be happy if Morey traded Head for someone like Watson of OKC..our PG position would be solid...if not, hope it would be a combo guard who can be Barry's replacement or an insurance for Artest's free agency...worst case scenario, a good draft pick will do..
Wait a minute, so Morey says Tracy and Ron are not expected to play on this road trip, and than he says Tracy will play on Sunday or Monday?
Maybe Morey is trying to jack up Battier's value. One thing we know, Morey is slick when it comes to making deals. I am hoping that's not true because I am a big Battier fan. But if Morey does trade Shane for some good PG, many people on this board will be ecstatic.
I continue to think that PF is the most likely position to involve in a trade because of the Rockets depth in that position. But it takes two to tango, and it depends on what the trade partner is looking for. I also think a deal not involving the "core" is more likely than one that involves the core. There's been enough shuffling of lineups, I'd think he would like to see how an almost full roster looks, if possible, before making a big change. Morey doesn't strike me as the panicky type. Don't know where you'd find a good PG that fits the grand plans (considering, among other things, 2010 cap room).
