http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/q_with_courtney_lee_2010_09_20.html The way he answers questions with such great detail tells me he's got his head in the game. He was built to play for this Rockets team.
That's the part that made me a little uneasy. What impresses me about a given player is the ability to assess his own abilities objectively so he can learn how to exploit his strengths and work on his weaknesses. There's no way he's quicker than AB. But when he talks about his tendencies in the PnR, he was more objective about it. I like his emphasis on the team though and that he seems to have accepted the role player role he's been given (i.e. not be a scorer).
1. David Thorpe really sounds like an awesome basketball skills development coach. He probably could do for the guards and perimeter players what Jack Sikma and Dawson could do for the bigs. 2. Rockets are in the right frame of mind heading into the season's opener. No distractions, no drama, nothing. The lads are focused, determined and in a good mood. That's excellent. 3. Team is gonna rock this season. Big time.
I took that as lighthearted trash-talking and probably not totally serious. Its a good sign that he feels comfortable enough already to do that.
Isn't it refreshing to read intelligent rational insightful remarks? compared to the type of responses T-Mac would give? I'm so glad T-Mac is no longer with the team.
lol but melo is better on the court.. which is what matters. anyways, can't wait to see lee d up on kobe in the opener
He is going to be a stud. No distractions, just focus on the season. he knows his role, and he isnt a Me first type of player, which is a god thing
"We’ve got good depth where on any given night we can throw a wave of anybody at you" i like! wonder what kinda minutes he'll get this season?
I remember reading a nets blog that gave a scouting report on lee and they said that he would guard quicker pgs that Harris wasn't fast enough to guard.
Hopefully his focus on improving his ball-handling as mentioned in the interview will result in a pleasantly surprising improvement in his offensive game.
If AB is involved in a trade for a guy like Melo, I'd imagine the Rockets are comfortable playing Lee at the backup point. His skills compliment other players well. If his ball handling is improved enough to handle backup min. at the 1, the Rockets won't hesitate to include AB to bring a star. Moe
I think he'll be fine with his dribbling skills as long as he doesn't stink it up like T-Riz did. He'll be a really good slasher for us and hopefully we'll see backdoor plays with him and the bigs.
"Jordan Hill is clogging the paint and being a force down low"- interesting comment, here's to him becoming more then just trade bait pat playin D, we are definately NOT gonna see the lay-up line we saw last year and if lee IS anywere near AB in quickness this team might just give the lakers fits "we should be shooting for nothing less than a championship" lovin it, GO ROX
The Most important thing he said: Seems to me that JT has been there all summer. B4 summer league action he said after the season he only took 2 weeks off. That's what he is gonna have to do to play be the first one there, work hard, and be the last one to leave. Team JT!
