sorry if some 1 got to this b4 me What must the Rockets do tonight in order to top the Nets? Feed the ball to Yao Ming 51% Bring the same intensity they displayed in Chicago 22% Keep the turnovers down 13% Shut down Jason Kidd 13% Clamp down defensively on Richard Jefferson 1% how abought all of them!!!
Good points. All of the above. Id almost say that shutting down Jason Kidd is more important than getting Yao maximum touches. However, they are probably equally important. Well see how much Steve has improved on his defense after tonight.
LOL, yes, the game plan should be to clamp down on RJ . He is the key to the nets' success, and we will be lucky to slow him down. man, funny stuff.
The option of Shuting Jason Kidd down does not really make basketball sense because JKidd is a superstar. In the NBA and in many other sports, you do not go out to shut down those kind of players - you just try to contain them and minimize their overrall damage while playing to your strenght. Super Stars will always more than likely get their numbers - just don't allow that to come with a career day for Kittles, Collins and the other 'scrubs' they will parade tonight.
I went with the term "shut down" because that is the term the poll used. I had assumed that had more to do with containment that stopping him all together.
How do you shutdown Jason Kidd? You let him shoot, not because he can't make the shot (cause he can now) but because when he scores a lot, the rest of the team seems to suffer. In other words, Steve play defense like you did last year...
Yao tore apart the Nets in the first quarter last year in NJ. He was like, 7-8 in the first few minutes. Jason Collins can't handle you, Yao. Get your shots off.
Its interesting that you post this because I was about to post Jason Kidds stats in wins v. losses. In losses, he shoots more, scores more and has a 36% FG%. Interesting though, that his assist #s dont seem to suffer (only .5 less than wins). However, the stats may reflect whether is shot is on or off , more than how a particular team defenses him in wins v. losses. So it may be a matter of hoping that he is off with his shooting rather than just zoning off of him and daring him to beat you from the outside.
