They actually spend the first couple of minutes explaining who he is. He is a straight-shooting blogger that writes the blog on ESPN.com's Truehoop (similar to Kelly Dwyer's on Yahoo!).
Interesting stuff... Abbott spends some time shedding some light on Kevin Pritchard and his practices as a GM. Although it is pretty well known to Clutchfans who follow along with the news during draft time, he talks about the whole deal between Minnesota and Houston that would get us Brandon Roy. Portland, with a pick in between Minny's and Houston's, picks Randy Foye (the guy who Minnesota wanted) when they didn't even want him... to force the deal for Brandon Roy (that b*stard!). Also mentions them taking Rudy Fernandez when we were prepared to draft him ONE pick later. Another fun thing from the podcast: Friedman and Abbott have a wager going on for tomorrow's game... loser has to write a 500 word column about how great the other team is.
That's why I wanted the Rockets to pick up Darius Miles. Just to stick it to Portland. The weasle had the nerve to send out that e-mail to all the other GM's and Owners threatening to take up leagal action against anyone that tries to sign Miles. If Miles plays more then 10 games this season, Portland would have to pay for the 18 million left on his contract.
Blazers have 4 second rounders and a first round pick this upcoming draft plus the rights to Joel Freeland. It doesn't hurt the Rocket to keep a good relationship with them.
Thanks for the recap alexdapooh. The wager sounds interesting. Couldn't wait to read a piece from Abbott how good our team has become.
[Truehoop] Henry Abbott heaps praises http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Sports_Writer_Smackdown_ESPN-302433-34.html A good read from an outsider's POV.
Nice...that was well done. And I agree with that assessment with Artest trying to make up for his mistake by jacking up a shot. That was spot on.
