Adelman talks to the media about the win over Denver. http://www.nba.com/media/rockets/PressConference11-24-2007.wmv
Surprised there was no mention of francis. I guess the reporters doesn't want to remind him of what could have been if he had played francis more in those 6 game losing streaks.
the first question was about francis...or at least, about "changes in the rotation" and "trying different guys". Again, adleman protects his players....he's not gonna crush luther head's confidence by announcing that francis has knocked him out of the rotation...RA is very, very political in press conferences it seems...which means he says as little as possible.
Thanks for posting this. So they reverted to the JVGish offense the last few games to try and get some wins? I'm glad they decided to give the new offense another try...I mean it got them to 6-1, didn't it? I like T-Mac playing as a wing, he makes scoring 35 look so damn easy. That's the way it should be for him. Yao looked pretty fluid moving all around the place, getting some offensive rebounds and generally abusing Camby at every opportunity. I hope they stick to this offense, it's really so much better to see than the T-Mac create-a-thon of yesteryear.
I wonder if Francis got playing time because of Bonzi's injury keeping him out of the game of course he did play ahead of Head, but last game against Heat Head didn't play till the 4th quarter.
I haven't watched the interview yet, but it surely seemed this way from watching the games: constant PnR and TMac Isos and Yao force feeds that don't work...prior to this game, it looked exactly like last year's offense...actually worse because last year Head was on fire and Rafer was on fire from 3ball land the first 3rd of the season.
Wow you are good at sugarcoating Yao's performance. Yao played very mediocre and was not given the ball enough in the low post. When 22/13 is a good game there is a problem. He did not play very well tonight. It is a testament to his ability that he got 22/13 on a middling night. This offense is wasting Yao's talent and winning is masking that.
The underlying and unspoken truth to our situation is... Our "a-game" is good enough to beat "good" teams like Denver, and sometimes Lakers, but it is NOT good enough to consistently win against top-tier competitors like San Antonio, Dallas, and Phoenix. That must change if we want to win a championship.
We beat San antonio and almost beat them again without T-mac. We match up with the spurs the spurs can't blow us out, games with the spurs will always go down to the wire or we will either have the edge going down the stretch. Playing the mavericks it's getting that playoff moneky ghost off your back and gaining trust with the new system and new head coach. Those dallas games were a direct result of unfamilarity with new players a new system and trusting a new head coach.Once everyone get's familar with one another later on in the season the rockets will close out those game they should have won against the mavericks.
Maybe Steve paid Bonzi to sit this one out so that he could have hope of getting in and helping this team. Or maybe Bonzi knew that if he stayed out Steve would get a chance to play. I don't think Bonzi is worried about his opportunity to continue to play even though he has had several bad games. He still is much more talented than other players behind him. But I think he maybe relates to what Steve is going through with RA because of his experience with JVG last year. I think he knows that in the playoffs, they will need Steve to go very far. Im not saying that Bonzi faked his injury, just that he may have sat out this game since he was already sort of injured to see if he could help out Steve. I know it a wild theory, but don't put it past players to do stuff like that.
Beating the top-tier teams is one thing. Beating them consistently is another. We can get occasional wins over them. But we don't consistently beat them. They consistently beat us. We must turn that around if we want to win a championship.
