This just tells y0u how badly the rockets need a legit PF to be competitive in the Western conference. Even a slow pathetic fat over paid CATO can help us win... it is a telling story...even though i also think the guards need a little growing up to do...it will come in time...once Yao is untstoppable i don't think Cat and Franchise will think they are hot sh*t... Yao obviously needs another year or two.... and needs to defect from CHINA so he can rest in the offseasin rather than play ALL year long....or else he's gonna be worn out by the time he turns 25. anyway back to my Cato rant.....yeah "WE NEED YOU CATO"...did'nt ever believe i would ever say that.
If it has come down to this - that the entirety of the Rockets chances rest on the fortunes of Cato, then they are truly doomed. They might as well skip the final 6 games of the season, go home, find a nice comfy chair and watch the playoffs on TV. The reason there's now a void at the PF spot is not due to Cato's absence but to the dumdass GM blowing 3 FIRST ROUND picks on a PF who's off the team and out of the league. The time to pay the piper for the EG mess has now come.
Nope. It's more than fair to assume that a team severely restricted by their cap situation will take a huge hit when one of their starters go down. Especially when the entire system revolves around this players strengths: Shotblocking, rebounding, defense, energy, hustle.
We've lost to the Kings, the Lakers and the Timberwolves. Why are people getting their panties in a bunch about losing games that we'd have been surprised to win? Their only real failure is not showing up for the Denver game. Maybe it isn't so much that we didn't have Cato or Griffin or whatever other power forward, maybe it's because we just finished playing the three best teams in the league.
We go nowhere without Cato? That's a scary thought. Lakers lost Karla, Kobe and Shaq for a few games and they kept on winning. Kings lost C-Web for most of the season and they have one of the best record in the league. We lost SF for one game and Suns smoked us. We lost Cato for a few games and we went on a major losing streak. I think we do need a major overhaul in the offseason. This team is not ready for primetime yet.
from sportingnews.com It has been quite a turnaround for Rockets PF Kelvin Cato, who has long been the bane of the Rockets' salary cap. Now, it seems, Houston can't win without Cato providing rebounding and defense next to C Yao Ming. The Rockets blew a lead against the Suns, ending a five-game winning streak, after Cato was injured in their March 15 game. In the next nine games without Cato, the Rockets went 3-6.
across 110thstreet.. nice research yourself....that's exactly where i got it from...i did'nt even know we were without Cato until i had to read in the article...shows you how much Cato impresses me ucansee202... i don't know if a rested Cato is better!!!..the guy is known to go off on eating spree's in the offseason...an injury is probably like offseason to him....so i would advise the rockets to keep a check on his weight..+ the guy needs to be motivated more than the average player....so who knows he might come back as the Cato of a year ago...inconsistent and FAT
thanks, I am obsessed, it ain't easy. I mostly read up for fantasy b-ball purposes, but how could you not miss Cato? we were 3-7 without him. he is the heart and soul of the Rockets D welcome back Cato, we missed you
The thing that confused me about Cato is, how did he get injured? Didn't he slip in the pool at the practice facility or something like that? Grrrrr. Oh, well, accidents happen. We really could use him back, and I hope he can hold up.

As much as I hate Cato in the game taking those 15 foot Js, I'll be the first to admit that he is a force on defense and helps in the rebounding game. An asset to the team, but it definitely does emphasize the need for a legit PF who demands to be guarded, unlike Cato who allows the opposing team a free man to double on Yao
Cato slipped in the pool and injured his already painful shoulder. He was able to play with the injur before he slippedi n the pool. The pool incident is what put him out.
Here's what I wanna know. What's the difference in opp's FG% in games when Cato plays vs. games Cato doesn't play. Anyone?
And the interesting thing about it, to me, is that the Rocks were in all of these games right up until the end. Every one of these games would have been a blowout last year, because the team would have tried to force everything when they got down by 15. I see improvement this year, even though the record isn't that much better than this time last year.
