    Rockets Burned By Heat

July 19 - A big second quarter propelled the Miami Heat to a 109-96 summer league win over the Rockets on Friday. Miami outscored Houston 35-19 in the second period and the Rockets were never able to recover in falling to 3-4 in summer league action. Ismail Ahmed led five Rockets in double figures with 20 points. Ike Nwankwo added 13 points, while Tito Maddox and Fred Jonzen each poured in 12. University of Houston product George Williams, who was recently added to Houston's summer league roster, hit all five of his field goal attempts and finished with 11 points. Regulars Eddie Griffin, Tierre Brown and Jason Collier did not see action for Houston. The Rockets will wrap up their L.A. Summer Pro League schedule Saturday with a rematch against the Heat.

Interesting that Tierre did not play. Perhaps he has done enough to convince the Rockets to keep him around for now so they wanted to give the other bubble players a chance?

Although Ron said that Tierre didn't play, he really did. In the stats section it say she played 21 minutes.

actually I just cut & pasted that commentary from the Rockets website on nba.com so don't kill the messenger. I also noticed it said Tierre did not play but in the boxscore it says he got quite a few minutes of playing time. Who knows?

And Tierre is not a she.

of course, if Tiere is a she, it would certainly explain why s/he did not play

Tierre actually played in the game yesterday, but it really was a game of watching newbies and Tito run the point. I was actually very impressed with George Williams..(has the dredlocks) can shoot the ball pretty well and stays very active without the ball as well. In the shoot-arounds he made just about every shot he took, which was impressive since going to the game, I had no idea who he was. Griffin and Collier were both out and so Butler had his way inside...but Butler looks VERY solid and he's going to have a great career, the comparisons with Pierce are not too far off at all.

For some reason the Chronicle says that Jason Collier played and had 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Byt the box score I am impressed with George Williams, Ismale Amahed (or so), and with Tito Maddox. George hit everything he shot. The Egyptian had 20 points and 7 rebounds. Maddox had 12 pts. and 6 assists.

I'm pulling for George Williams now!:D
