5 man rotation stats After looking at these stats I wanted to understand why these numbers are like this. This site details the performance of the top 20 most used five-man unit. They measure: Min = the total minutes the unit was on the floor. Off = the unit's points scored. Def = the unit's points allowed. +/- = the team net points for the unit. W = number of games a unit outscored its opponents while on the court. L = number of games a unit was outscored by its opponents while on the court. Win% = the winning percentage for the unit based on Wins versus Losses. The unit with the best winning percentage was the starting 5 which went 37 - 15 against its opponents. But the unit with the worst winning % is the team that most people think should be starting which is SF, CM, JJ, MoTay, YM. Needless to say, I am completely shocked. I am not sure why this is the case. Is it that Cato is a better player than Mo? Does it have to do with which min Cato and Mo T play? Any good answers out there....
Defense and well rounded players win championships. For all of his flash, Mo T is a poor defensive player, though he is improving. His game is highly one dimensional. He scores well, but he does not involve other players, he a poor passer,we give up rebounds at his position, and on and on. Same for Cato. Boards well. Good defense against a certain type of player and a lot of intensity - hard foulds, dramatic dunks, good scowl, gives hard fouls - but glaringly inadiquate offense and limited defense on quicker players. Couldn't help but notice that Spoon has been geting the critical closing minutes lately. He plays a well rounded game. Rebounding is his streangth, but plays fundamental defense, passes ok, scores well enough that he has to be guarded, makes free throws, dosen't have a lot of turnovers, and basically just dosen't beat himself.
