With the 4-Team Trade that just happened the Rockets I think have a good chance of having a better record than the Phoenix Suns. I mean what were they thinking when they traded to get Chris Dudley.Already the rockets match up good with the suns but I think now we can dominate them.

Ohh ok, so luc longley the franchise player ( [IMG] ) is gone , they get dudley and all of a sudden we are better than the suns?

This is one of the nominees for the STUPIDEST topics of all time.

Well it looks like Tsakildas is going to be starting for the suns this year with Dudley backing him up.

I don't know how good they will be, I haven't seen him play, but he's obviously better than Longley.

Now if I am wrong and Dudley starts, then yeah I could see us having a better record.

Okay, I'll fuel the fire. Rex Chapman is out for the year and will possibly retire.

Seriously, we may be closing the gap, but we're not there yet.

Dudley is as good and maybe even more effective than Longley has been for the Suns.

He was completly non-existant last season and was ridiculous in the playoffs.

It´s laughable to think that the loss of Longley affects the Suns at all.

As a matter of fact, they´ve even marginally improved themselves by getting rid of that sorry bum.

I think Rodney Rogers is the back breaker.

What was Pheonix thinking. Ok we'll give Luc Longley to someone else b/c we were stupid to pay him so much money. We'll also help Seattle get Ewing and be better than us. We'll hope this European center will be the answer for Shaq, Ewing, Duncan, Malone, Kemp, Wallace and Sabonis. Phoenix is stupid unless they know something everyone else doesn't know. I have no doubt we'll be better than Phoenix. Without a true center, you can't win in the Western Conference. Plain and simple. You can make the playoffs but everyone will have to score and defend as a team. With them having guys like Hardaway and Googs, not the best defenders in my opinion. Stupid move for Phoenix just to get rid of Longley. Oh and thanks from the Laker's for Horace Grant. Lakers could win it all unless Rider messes up things come on JR, I mean Isiah. Do your thing!

don't forget that Cliff Robinson played time at the center spot too and was very effective.

Tsalki should be better or at least equal to Longley. And they gained a pretty good backup in Dudley.

Rockets may very well end up with a better record, but it will not be because of this trade.

NY better have a trade for a better center lined up, cuz if they are stuck with Longley then they are in trouble.

What about Utah? I can't remember a year when they didn't make the playoffs (in the malone/stockton years of course). I don't think they ever had a center that was even considered good. I think Polynice is the best one they've had and we all know how bad Polynice is.

And I think Iakavos Tskalidis will be as good as big Z in cleveland before he went out on injuries.

I think this trade is pretty good for the suns, they get a very good defensive and rebounding center.

When I first looked at the season schedule, I had us splitting the Suns (2:4) this season. With all this talk about how "good" the Suns are and how this is a "rebuilding year" for the Rockets, I will get onery and say my Rockets take 3 of 4!

(With two of those wins blowin' the Suns clear out of the water and the fourth quarter whistle sounds and gives them a chance to slink back to the dressing room amid the roaring boos of their home town Phoenix Fans!!!!!!)

oilly, don't forget the suns have a rocket killer now.

so you can pencil in AT LEAST two losses to the suns.

Thats one of the most outrageous comments I've heard in a long time. To say that you have "never seen someone play" but they are "obviously better than Longley" is absurd.

Luc Longley was the starting centre on 3 championship teams. Give credit where credit is due and don't come with any cr#p about being Jordan's team-mate. Next time I see the "sorry bum"(Thanos) I'll ask him how sorry it feels to own those rings.

As for Dudley being "as good and maybe even more effective than Longley" (Thanos again)here are last years regular season stats, adjusted to 44 minutes per game

    Longley PPG 14.2, RPG 10.1, APG 2.4 BPG 1.5
    Dudley PPG 5.4, RPG 13.2, APG 0.4 BPG 2.0

I was hoping to unearth a Longley fan with that comment, and looks like i managed to do so, as incredible as it seems.

    Longley is utterly mediocre.

And you cannot simply adjust their stats equally, since last year dudley never played, what, 10 minutes in a row in any games, as i recall.

So your point is somewhat flawed.

I won´t mention the being Jordan teammate crap, since you seem sensitive to the subject.

Bottom line: Longley is laughable. Name the worst starting centers of the league and you´ll find Longley in one of the top spots for sure.

Heck, if Jim Mcilvaine or any other scrub was the center of the bulls instead of Longley, they would STILL have three-peated.

Unless you somehow feel that Longley was the key to the championships Chicago has won?

Longley was a nice enough player with Chicago, but he was fairly worthless last year. I can't imagine that the Greek will be a star his first year either, however. This trade, imho, will be irrelevant to the Sun's success.

I do think the ROcket's will make the playoffs, but I can't understand how one would consider them better than Phoenix.

Jason Kidd, next year at least, will still be better than Francis. Hardaway is better than Anderson and Mobley.

Clifford Robinson and Rodney Rogers more than equal Taylor and Williams.

If Gugliotta comes back at even 3/4's of himself, he'll be of substantial use.

Corie Blount and Tony Delk are both nice extras.

Don't get me wrong, I think Houston will be good... but Phoenix is elite.

Well I guess we'll never know the answer to that one, so your argument is flawed also.

I'm not arguing that Longley is anything BUT mediocre in NBA terms but I take exception to comments referring to him as a "sorry bum" or that some player that Believe2000 has never seen before is "obviously better".

Whichever way you look at it, Longley is in the NBA, has maintained his position, and has achieved major success - all by being a "sorry bum". I don't think so.

Now I forget which of the Bull's championship years it was, but in one of them, they went up against Miami (Mourning), the Knicks (Ewing), and the Pacers (Smits) - all marquee centers, and the Bulls still won. Longley did a good, if not very good job against those guys. Thats not "laughable" or "sorry"

Davo: Longley was exactly what he needed to be in those days. He was an excellent passing big man, who wasn't selfish, and could play some better than average defense.

I would contend, however, that Longley is well past his prime, and that by taking a chance on the Greek, the Suns don't really have much to lose.

That said, Longley wasn't a bum.

I think the Suns played above their heads last season. I'm not convinced they are a 50 win team again...although the aquisition of The Junkyard Dog(Mario Elie) sure didn't hurt them.
