I included tonight's game as well and I checked it from this site
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/fc/pgl.cgi?player=mingya01&year=2009

I don't think I counted more than once, but all I know is we only lost one game when Yao scored more than 20 points and that was against the Clippers, when Zach Randolph was in the zone.

The point of this thread is to show you, HOW VALUABLE he is. He should honestly be the closer, but with Adelman brain farting with his time mangament in the 4th quarter I am not surprised that Yao has been choking horribly this season.

Really, It all comes down to Yao as Jerome Solomon had said in an article earlier. It starts and it ends with Yao. The Rockets are going where Yao Ming is going.

Yes but Yao scoring 20 points doesnt necesarily guarantee a win.

Goes to prove how Yao needs to become more agressive on the offense and take more shots.

Well, Yao scoring under 20 points doesnt necessarily guarantee a win either . 20 or more, theres a 27 out of 28 chance Rockets win...thats pretty much a guarantee. What's your point?

Bobcats didn't play physical enough tonight and they paid for it.

if teams play him like this today, no reason why he can't get 20 pts more consistently.

now need to try to get 20pts v. fronting/moving defenses and we're talking.

but seriously, yao should have taken at least 25 shots today, goodness

His teammates except Lowry need to realize that Yao is the man. Brooks def. has to realize that Yao is the guy, and Artest for sure needs to realize Yao is the guy.

In my opinion, Yao should clearly be our closer, but with Adelman not being smart enough to manage the minutes of the Rockets correctly. It leads him to choke. Jeff Van Gundy made him quite a clutch player when he was playing for the Rockets. Last season, Yao's clutch numbers were pretty good to, but his minutes were much different not to mention he had T-Mac more often playing.

Just saying, Avery Johnson would probably manage Yao's minutes well and would let him be the closer. ;)

The record says it nearly is. What it says is that the formula for beating the Rockets is making sure Yao doesn't get the ball enough, and 23 opposing teams have done so successfully this season so far. Tonight, the Rockets showed a little more determination in getting Yao the ball in the 4th quarter than they normally do, and it ended in a win. There was no coincidence there.

Some may grate about this, but I feel Yao needs to make developing his midrange game a priority this coming offseason. If the Rockets at least had an option of delivering the ball to him in pick-and-pop situations instead of having to rely on feeding the post only, it would make the problem a lot easier to solve.

it may not gurantee it, but it raises their scoring efficiency a lot and opens up the game for the others, he needs to get at least 16 shots a game.

I agree, With him being done playing for Team China. He probably would develop it. Does anybody remember when their was an NBA commercial of Yao and Alston shooting mid-range jumpers in pre-game warm ups? Yao made every single one of those mid-range jumpers.

Yao does need to get his mid-range jumper back he had it during his 1st 2 years in the NBA. It was gone when Yao started completely dominating the low-post.

Yao should def. be our closer too.

Nothing is a guarantee in this world, but I'll take that 96% any day of the week!

Yao won't get more than 12 shots a game in Adelman's system. It's all about making sure everyone gets an equal number of tries. And having fun. That's the fair thing to do. Doesn't matter if you're a max player or a scrub who couldn't get PT in Denver or Portland. Everyone is equal and is special. So long as everyone gets enough shots and has fun, the parents won't complain to Adelman about it.

I don't know what math you were taught or what you are currently learning in math. But just to let you know

96% is a much better chance than 4%.

it might not guarntee the game but it means that he is in the flow and should give him the ball.

Yao hasn't sniffed 25 shots all season. He's a roleplayer in this system and that's it. It's all up to Wafer, Brooks, and Ron to chuck the other team into submission.
