    Sources tell Sports Radio 610 that the Rockets and Tracey McGrady have agreed in principle to a contract extension which would keep MacGrady in a Rocket uniform for the next six seasons. The deal is essentially a three year max dollar extension on top of the three years left on McGrady's current deal.

    I'm hoping that it's in the CBA for CD to remove T-mac's opt out next year. Because otherwise, we could be royally screwed if things go south, this year.

    No way they sign a deal that doesn't void the opt out clause. There would be no point in doing the deal if they didn't.

    Yao can be maxed out after year four of his deal. He still has two seasons of his rookie contract before he can be extended. At that point, the Rockets have the option of negotiating an extension, opting to extend his deal for one additional season (after which point he becomes a free agent) or allowing him to go on the market as a restricted free agent right then.

    No matter what the option, the Rockets hold the cards.

    If both Yao and Tracy sign max contracts, I hope it doesn't become a Lakers type situation where there's zero flexibility in signing anyone else.

    And also shaq was on a ubermax-contract that was grandfathered in from the previous cba. He was making about $10 million more per season than Yao can possibly recieve.
