Rockets could be a dark horse in recieving Marc Jackson.... <font color"#8B0000">THE WARRIORS says they will begin discussions with other teams regarding their glutton of extra bodies, especially at the guard spot. One player said not to be on the way out is Mookie Blaylock, the only proven point guard on the team. The Warriors say they are not as concerned as many think they are simply because of the injuries they have had. One sources said "its just nice to know you have the possibility of 12 healthy bodies". As free agency is under way the Warriors have concerns about retaining Marc Jackson, who has surfaced as a possible 2nd or 3rd option for both he Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons should their 1st plans fail. The Warriors can match any contract up to $4.5 million, but both the Bulls and Pistons are rumored to have $5 million earmarked for Marc. The dark horse in the Marc race is the Houston Rockets who might not go $5 million, but may go a bit higher than Golden State ($4.75)</font> ------------------ Fear the Spear
Well we already of a prolific, weak side shotblocker in Griffin, so Marc Jackson gives us a solid presence under the basket, and a solid rebounder. Besides, shotblocking teams like Philly, and the Spurs didn't do a thing to stop the Lakers, so we might as well get some muscle, and try to get to them with speed! Yeah, the Lakers didn't have any prolific shotblockers on their team outside of Horry... ------------------ This post contains no smilies, you must judge my seriousness on your own... "I'm a Level 18 mage, wanna form a party?" -- Dr of Geekdom in search of a D&D buddy...
So which one of our free agents aren't we going to sign to get Jackson. Rockets priorities should be: 1. Mo T 2. Dream 3. Mooch 4. Shandon 5. Bull ------------------
I love Jackson and I think he would be great on our team, being a role player who can contribute greatly to our needs. Jackson should be a backup plan to Dream. If Dream demands so much that we can't afford to re-sign our other four FA's, then we should let himgo elsewhere and pursue Jackson for the 4.75 mil range. Quote me on this: If Hakeem makes it impossible to retain all our guys then we should lose him. ------------------
Is it going to be either Hakeem or Jackson? Assuming they could afford it, could the Rockets play Olajuwon at center and Jackson at power forward? And then when Hakeem retires, slide Jackson back to center and play Griffin at PF. Is Jackson worth the investment, or will there be a better solution to the problems at center next year? ------------------
