http://www.northjersey.com/sports/nets/39542092.html The Spurs, Rockets, Mavericks and Cavaliers are among the teams interested in Vince Carter. One trade scenario has Carter going to Houston in a package that includes Ron Artest’s expiring contract. Dallas has dangled Jerry Stackhouse and parts, but unless one part is Josh Howard, it makes little sense for New Jersey. "We set out a business plan a year ago and we’re going to build with our young players," Vandeweghe said. "The one thing we won’t do is sort of go for [quick] fixes that compromise our long-term plans or for that matter hurt the development of your young players. I think that’s a mistake. "If we can do something to improve our team within our game plan and business plan we’re definitely going to do it."
VC is my #1 trade target (next to Rip of course). I really want him on this team because if Tracy goes down or never the same for the rest of the season, we still have a 20 ppg guard to pair with Yao.
It's the same thing we did with the trade for battier. We have a "win it now" mindset, we dont look to the future. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, but it's something to consider... But then again, if he could fill the certain void we have, and win the ring this year, id be fine with sucking the next few.
Wasn't this posted already?? But once again Carter isn't going anywhere. I highly doubt that we trade one superstar for another. I guess the 2004 Lakers didn't get through everyones head.
i think this "interest" has less to do with the rockets wanting carter and his 4 year contract, and more to do with them trying to prevent carter from going to the spurs or the mavs.
#1 that can't be right? Out of everyone rumored (and not rumored) he is your numero uno?!?! I think Caron Butler should be a top target of ours. If not a solid PG.
3 years. The last year (4th) is a TEAM option. Plus, Tracy's 2 years are worth about 44 million while Carter's 3 years are worth about 49 million. When considering total money (like an owner does) it's not an enormous difference.
I'm in a win-now mindset. I would LOVE to avoid ruining our chances for signing a big name in 2010 but were are the chances we actually do get someone? I would prefer to upgrade at the point but I don't like the available choices at that position. Besides what if McGrady continues this drama and is out for an extended period of time? What then? Yao and a bunch of role players won't get it done. VC is a legit starter that can pour 20 ppg on a given night and if we can snag Keyon Dooling in that deal, its a bonus. Btw Caron Butler? There is no way the Wizards are trading him.
like everyone has said, yao is the only untouchable one on this team...which means we're gonna need to build around him. i dont see vc and yaos game complementing each other.
Carter is getting max money for four more years. I don't see how he adds something that completely puts us over the top, especially with McGrady still being here. We'd be trading depth for a player who will decline as his contract goes on. I don't think this is the "big move" KS is talking about. I'd want to see Barbosa or Rip in a Rockets jersey. I don't know where the Caron Butler rumors are coming from, and I don't watch enough Wizards games to make a judgment on him.
He's getting max money for 2 more years. That's next season and the season after that. Then there's a team option.
Believe you me dude got game! Why would you not want Rip in a Rox uni? He would fit perfectly into our system. And as far as Barbosa goes I'm on the fence about, I think it's more of the system that made him.
