This stuff is plain stupid, coming from some idiot in New Orleans. We ain't interested in trading for Kaman's expiring deal unless Orlando wants him for some odd reason.

New Orleans has no use for Scola nor do they want Scola. They're moving Kaman to get playing time for their young players. Why would they want Scola? They could just keep Kaman then. You'd have to expand this to a 3 team deal or you 'just' ship Scola out in an entirely separate deal.(I say just, ha, but that might be easier said than done)

Yeah, I think you have to value Patterson more than Scola going forward. I love Luis, but we need a two-way player at the four who can rebound at a decent rate.

I doubt they're looking to take on that much salary commitment though. I think a KG-Scola swap may be able to get some traction though.

A three-way could work... KG to Houston, Kaman and Scola to Boston and Hill, T-Will, Flynn and Thabeet to NO.

Morey is just shopping for potential asset on cheap. He has a price tag in mind and will not go above it. Hornets of course will ask for a lot more but in the end it is about what the market will bear.

Shut yo mouth. Lee's going nowhere. Do you not know athleticism when you see it? He's the most athletic player on our team and can defend 3 positions.

Seriously. Lee stays. Moving him is exactly why real FAs don't want to come to Houston.

Send the 09 draft squad + Adrien and we'll take back a player with a 2+ year contract, remaining, that's as good as its ginna get. Doesn't make sense to give anyone else up. I wouldn't even include Morris in on that deal unless Kaman was motivated to restructure and sign for a couple years with a team option.

No, David Stern did not want Scola ;) That was a month ago anyways. Things have changed. They're 4-15, one of the worst teams in the league(although yes, they are missing Gordon). It's not a good match(Scola for New Orleans, New Orleans for Scola). They're going younger. People wanted us to tank and get younger and trade Martin and Scola, so if we didn't want Scola if we were going to get younger, why would they want him?! Sure, I'm all for moving Scola but this isn't that deal to do so.

Give 'em Hill or Budinger or any of those 09ers and a 2nd round pick or two, but I'm not entirely sure on where we stand with draft picks and what we have or don't have.

It will be the same stuff we always hear from morey. "Well we tried to improve the team but nothing seemed to help the team this year". Or the rockets are in deep talk with NO one day then the next its off.

    1. Lee is very replaceable. His contract is expiring as well.

    2. We don't want Kaman after this year. His contract expires after this season.

Have you seen this FA class? We want that expiring contract. And Les still wants to try to win.

N.O. is just doing what we've seen our own GM do for years...
Kaman is an expiring and they have no plans of bringing him back.
Therefore, they want to get some kind of value for a serviceable vet from a team with playoff aspirations.
We did the same with brooks and battier.

Thus the price that hornets will end up getting is probably 3 of our 09 busts.

Kaman, like Dalembert, is a decent player that will fill a void on our team and that is a 7 foot backup big that has a post game.
Acquiring him will give us a very balanced squad.

The problem is that you have to trade approximately equal contracts. At $14 Million we can't just send the young flotsam on our roster. Maybe they'd want an upfront look at Thabeet. That gets the deal about halfway done, I think. He's another young BIG they could take a flyer on.

I'd rather keep Thabeet, I think.

honestly, I want DM to target a backup C --> Kaman and a defensive/scoring SF --> W. Chandler this coming trade deadline.

Keep Thabeet?! What? Crazy talk! :p

    The 09ers(Hill, Flynn, Thabeet, Williams) = $13,767,240

    Kaman's salary is $14,030,000

Money-wise, that trade would work. Now New Orleans actually accepting, probably not. But that's what I'd give up, maybe throw in a second round pick or two. Again, would New Orleans accept that? Probably not. However, I just realized New Orleans has a near-full roster at 14. They'd need to clear, what, 2 roster spots I believe.

Kaman isn't much better than Hill, if at all.
