Some minor news... The Rockets added Jerel McNeal, a 6-3, 200 pound shooting guard out of Marquette, to their preseason roster today. At Marquette, McNeal was the Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2006-07 and also was First-Team All Big-East as a senior. He played with the Clippers some in the 2009 preseason, then played the year in Belgium. He was most recently in the Orlando Pro Summer League with the Chicago Bulls this past summer.
I don't understand this, what could be the reason for adding someone so late to the preseason roster that will most probably be cut.
I was thinking the same thing. Thought it was the time for cuts now, not the time for adding players.
And it is not only adding a player, it is about adding a SG, when we have Martin, Lee and Taylor (plus Budinger and AB that can play SG occasionally)..... God Morey for you PeAcE
Maybe they saw him trying out for the Beijing team and said "Hey, do you want to join us for this week?".
Huh, that is strange, maybe a trade is going down, where we ship off some of our lower end player for future draft considerations and we need this guy to fill out the practice floor? DD
Doesn't it just bring him into the fold to play for the Vipers? A nice trip to China to make him feel apart of the team?
There could be several reasons for it. They could like his game and want to give him a look. They could be considering him for the Vipers since the Rockets run the basketball operations side of the NBDL team. They may just need an extra body in practice. They could be doing his agent a solid by giving him a look.

This makes no sense on almost every level. Taylor can't even get minutes and this kid is invited. The only 2 scenarios that make any sense are that 1 the Rockets want him to join the vipers and this is to help entice him to sign or as others have stated Morey knows something big is about to happen that may send one of our 2's away. I can't think of any other scenario. We have no roster spot for another 2. I guess a third option could be he is the second coming of Wade otherwise I am at a loss. Can anyone think of another reason to sign him.
