I was wondering who you guys think has been the 6th man of the year for the Rockets? Choices: - Deke - J. Barry - Mike James - Other (who?) Explain Please I gotta go w/ my man Deke. He not only is the best Back Up center in the NBA but he's better than other starting centers on other teams!
deke for reasons you said...plus he's been here all year. And I maintain that he's shown Yao a lot. Maybe people who have said no to me since December will finally change their minds...but Yao has improved a good amount this year. And his ability on defense to block shots without fouling has to be a direct impact of Deke and Ewing (though he still doesn't do it all the time...but way more than before). Love JB, and my chant at games (when I'm in town, and the one in DC) is I LOVE MIKE JAMES... but Deke all year.
Deke. No contest. Without Deke, the Rockets wouldn't be in the playoffs...period. Without Deke, the Rox have no other inside presence. With Yao's foul propensity, Deke's contributions are immeasurable.
I had to go with Deke. I can't imagine winning game 1 without Deke with Yao in trouble the whole game. Further, unlike Barry and Mike James, Deke has been here all year. He's really been invaluable. I was among those who were pleased with the trade to get Deke in a Rockets uniform, but his performance has far exceeded my expectations.
