Rockets announce they have waived rookie guard B.J. Young. Roster now down to 18 players - Jason Friedman who's next or will there be in trades , thoughts opinions ?
He was always a low risk, developmental player. Interesting that Morey signed him to a 3-yr deal. Look for him to start alongside Canaan this season at RG Vipers. Very small but explosive backcourt.
I doubt there will be trades right now. Most teams are in training camp and will need to trim their rosters, too, so I doubt they're looking to add marginal rotation guys. They're looking to downsize, just like the Rockets, from 20 to 15 guys. And there will be lots of guys available on the waiver wire as other teams cut down, so no real need to trade for someone to fill a gap right now, unless its a blockbuster trade for a stud like Asik or Harden. And the free agent signing period is over, so most teams have either filled their gap needs, or believe they have someone that can do so. They're not going to do trades until they know how the newly signed free agents work out. And the trade options will be limited till the trading moratorium on newly signed free agents expires anyway. I don't really see any trades happening right now, just cuts for the Rockets.
I would not be sure about him making it to the Vipers. The early release is odd for Morey if he was going to go to the Vipers. My guess would be he may be getting calls from Europe and Rockets are trying to stay on good terms with him/agent.

Yes, Henriquez. And then after that it will get interesting. Two of these must go: Aaron Brooks Marcus Camby Covington Isaiah Canaan That guy from the Bobcats (I forgot his name; sorry guys!) Omri Casspi Greg Smith Jeremy Lin
Williams+Casspi cut, Smith and Canaan to D-League? Howard/Asik/Smith/Camby TJones/D-Mo/SF (either Parsons or Garcia) Parsons/Garcia/Covington Harden/Brewer Lin/Beverley/Brooks/Canaan
McHale in his interview from yesterday... http://rockets.clutchfans.net/5006/day-4-of-houston-rockets-training-camp/ ...mentioned using Casspi at the 4 spot; and he said it twice. So...I don't think Casspi will be getting cut. Anyone who can reasonably play the 4 probably will stay (Casspi, Smith, Camby). Lin stays too.
