Ok, if these players are all on the board at #15 who would you select? Chances are that they ALL won't be on the board at #15 but it would be interesting to see what the other board members would do if they were on the board.

Amare Stoudamire - We have a glut of PFs but is his talent/potential just too much to pass up? Would not contribute at all right but who cares, his has loads of potential!

Jared Jeffries - He has bulked up from 220 to 234 lbs. His height is officially 6'11" from previously reported 6'10". Can he be the SF for the Rockets? We would have a very althletic and tall front line of Griffin,Ming, Jeffries.

Nachbar - Supposedly is "NBA ready" now ( 6'9" 220+lbs) and is one of the premiere European players in the draft. He could fill the SF slot that we have now by giving us better outside shooting and another player that can take it to the hole. Could be a dynamite role player.

Jiri Welsch - Would the Rockets be interested in his versitlity. He can play 3 positions at 6'7", supposedly is a very good defender and ballhandler.

Kareem Rush - Would the Rockets like to add more scoring punch off of the bench with this silky smooth shooting guard? Probably can fill spot minutes at the 3 spot as well.

Again, chances are ALL of them would not be there. Most mock drafts have Jeffries and Stoudamire going before we pick but suppose they are there. What would you do?

Oh, one more thing. Those of you that choose a player, please state why you choose that player over the others. I would love to see the reasoning.

If Amare is there at 15 the Rockets should take him. If he turns into a Ben Wallace type player then opposing teams will struggle to get 70 points a game against us. Imagine a starting lineup in the future of -

    PG - Francis
    SG - Mobley
SF - Griffin (6-11 and probably still growing)
PF - Stoudamire (6-10 and still growing)
C - Ming (7'5 - pretty sure he's stopped, if not may God have mercy on all opposing centers)

We could possibly have a starting lineup with three 7 footers.

I'd take JJ. I think he's the best player out of those choices. Maybe Stoudamire. Not Rush. Don't know much about Welsch. Nachbar seems like he could be a pretty decent player in the league.

I like Stoudmire because of his upside, I also like C. Jeffires because of his defense, but he wasn't on the list.

im surprised that there is no love for j.jeffries, since he is a top ten pick and a versatile small foward in the odom mold.

I would take Jeffries, but I am 97% sure he won't be there at 15. We have better odds of having Q Wood there IMO.

If we have choice of Stoudamire and Nachbar I would be quite happy. I'd rather not take Rush or Welsh--at least not unless we trade down and get something else in return.

Stoudamire, purely based on upside. Otherwise J. Jefferies. I'd still prefer Hilario, but looks like his stock went up way too high.

Actually, if Borchardt is still there, I would consider taking him. Can never have enough 7-footers and he seems to be a smart guy with fire, just 21 years old. We could have a big lineup when Francis and Mobley rest...Moochie, Collier, Borchardt, Cato, Ming....Moochie could just dribble for 23 seconds and then just throw it up high somewhere, one of them should be able to go for an alley-oop... ;).

I go with Stoudamire because we need his physicality--- even if he is a HSer! :D

    That's how unphysical we are...

it would be a tough descision between stoudamire and nachbar but id take stoudamire because he has so much potential and says himself if no one takes him in the top 10 they will regret

I would take Bostjan Nachbar just because I think he is going to be a good role player. Although he is not that much on defense, he can hit the open jumper and take it to the hole. I think Yao Ming and Bostjan Nachbar would be a great draft, plus it would make us an international team like the Kings or Mavs.

Rocket's needs = Defense, Intensity, Inside Presence

Amare = Defense, Intensity, Inside Presence (in 2-3 years)

    Amare, easy pick

once we have yao and eddie those will not be our needs.

with our guards set, all we will need is a consistant shooter or defencive swingman, making jeffries or nachbar the easy pick.

I'm one of the few Collier supporters, but there's few simularities between him and Borchardt, except for the fact that they are white. Borchardt is miles better athletically, has a more physical style down low, and has more post moves. Can you please tell me why Collier's success or failure has anything to do with Curtis Borchardt? Just because two players are white doesn't mean the two have similar styles of play.

On topic, I would definitely take Nachbar. We have enough big men and interior defense. What we need is that sweet shooting small forward that can run the floor, stretch the defense, and take the ball inside for the midrange jumper. Some in Spain have said that Nachbar at this stage of his career is more developed than Peja was at that time, and the two have very similar games and physical attributes. I'd even take him if we had to wait a year... it's not like Stoudamire or any of these other players are going to have much impact this season anyway, so I'd take the best player and fit regardless of availability.

You left out players who can actually shoot the ball better than 40% from the field. Considering the Rockets lost more close games than anyone else in the league this season, they would have won a lot more if they had a player who was actually hitting the three's instead of Torres, Rice, Griffin, Langhi, Moochie, and Morris throwing up bricks. Doesn't anyone realize the Rockets are a terrible shooting team?

This doesn't make the pick as easy since Nachbar has great outside touch. But, I would still probably take Stoudamire.

Tough choice between Nachbar, Jeffries, and Amare. I'd say probably only 1 is on the board at 15, likely Nachbar, off chance of Amare. Not much chance of Jeffries; I've heard Phoenix, Miami, and Washington all like him.

Borchardt has very little in common with Collier. I like Borchardt, but I wouldn't pick him as my backup for Yao-Borchardt isn't soft, but he's closer to Raef Lafrentz than Ben Wallace in that department. We need a physical body like Stoudemire.

There are many directions we could go with the SF slot-we could use more of a tweener like KT there, a long lanky zone player (Jeffries, Prince), a shooter like Nachbar, or a defender like C. Jefferies. Personally, I want a lockdown defender that can handle the premiere SG/SF in the league like Kobe and T-Mac, but I don't think Jefferies is all he's cracked up to be defensively, and is weak offensively (think Shandn Andersn).

The reports on Nachbar's weak defense worry me. I haven't seen any footage of him, so I don't really want to comment.

Kareem Rush is a guy that should be gone by the time fifteen rolls around, but I would love to have him as our two guard one day. This guy can bust the J like nobody's business and is a superior defensive player with height and length.I want to see a commitment to stopping people.

Are you guys starting to think Amare slipping is a pipe dream? Granted "he's a beast", and next to Eddie, Kenny and Maurice he might be the only 'power' forward... but don't you guys think other teams are certainly aware of that as well?

Teams in the lottery suck and will risk years on potential, I don't see a team taking Borchardt in the top 10 or before Amare or Woods. I see Hilario going lower than predicted... and Nachbar hopefully staying on the board until the Rockets pick at #15.
