When is the trade deadline? Will the rockets make a trade, who are some possible prospects? What do you think?

I think that we are going to stay put with what we have.

It has been said that several STARS of the LA Clippers and Atlanta Hawks could be obtained, if the right proposal was forthcoming!

trading off any of our players is the last thing the rockets should do.

It's really horrible that so many stars are available in trade right now, but we don't have anything to offer:

    Glenn Robinson
    Shareef Abdur Rahim
    Jason Terry
    Andre Miller
    Micheal Olowokandi
    Corey Maggette
    Chris Wilcox (prospect)
    Melvin Ely (prospect)
Ricky Davis (High price, but available)
Tyrone Hill (ending contract, good for teams in playoff race)
    Chris Mihm
Desagana Diop (maybe not with new coach)
Zydrunas Illgauskas (If you're willing tot ake on 12M)
    Damon Stoudamire
    Antonio Daniels
    Jonathan Bender
    Austin Croshere
    Stromile Swift
    Marcus Fizer
    Eddie Robinson (not bad)
    Robert Horry
Mike Miller (Only for a solid SF and more)
Vin Baker (lol, deadweight, but maybe a change in scene....naah)
    Kenny Anderson
Gary Payton (West Coast contenders only)
    Latrell Sprewell (price too high)

That's stunning isn't it? When was the last time so many players were available in trade?

I'd love to get Andre Miller and Desagna Diop. I'd trade Mobley to get Andre, but not Francis, and only if Francis were willing to move to SG and allow his buddy to go... so, I seriously doubt that will happen, even though I believe our team would become better...

I don't know who Cleveland would want for Diop... I'm sure they'd want someone young, that we probably wouldn't want to give up, like Posey or Boki, but I don't think we'd want to lose either guy ... hey, maybe they'd take Norris... :) ... nahh! I'd trade them Collier and a future draft choice, if they'd take that...

Those are the only two on the list I'd want... and I don't see either trade happening, since we can't give them what they'd want.

So, I really don't see any trades coming up. I think we'll stand pat, at least until this summer, and Taylor and Rice get over their injuries... This summer, though, it wouldn't surprise me to see Norris, Rice (cap space) and Taylor traded.

Cato has a lot of trade value right now, but the very reason he's tradeable, is why we don't want to trade him. He's a great backup to Yao, seems content in that role, and brings some real toughness when he's out there.

To help with team defense and add to their versitility the only trade that I feel may help the Rockets would be:

    Houston trades: K. Cato & M. Taylor

    Miami trades: B. Grant, L. Ellis & K. Johnson

This trades would give us a banger and rebounder at power forward to split time with Griffin and teach him some things. Grant could also back up Ming.

Grant would really help the Rockets come play off time when the game goes to more of a half court play.

    L. Ellis is a vetern who can play either forward position and would not mind a back up role.

Johnson is a defense minded center with good shot blocking ability much like Cato. If you look at Johnson's stats at Ohio State they almost match Cato's stats at Iowa.

Miami is wanting to rebuild and could us Cato as a starting center that they need and Taylor would give them a scoring power forward that they need.

Miami may want a draft pick, but it could be worth it.

This trade could help both teams.

Any trade involving Cato right now is r****ded. He's been the best player we have off the bench and has been a beast on the boards. Try again...

    ... wow.
I wouldn't mind if we added Olowokandi, Wilcox and Daniels to our team. But which players on the Rox are tradeable?? Norris (only if we get a decent backup to replace him), Maddox, Boki, Collier, Taylor (need to get a pf to replace him), and Rice.

I doubt we could get a team up like this:

    Ming/Olowokandi/Cato
    Griffin/Wilcox/TMo
    Posey/TMo/Hawkins
    Mobley/Hawkins/Francis
    Francis/Daniels

But I think it'd be a good team. Our center position position would be insane, but Ming could have 28 min. (I don't think it's a good idea to be playing him 35 minutes a game), and the rest can be split between Olowokandi and Cato, with Olowokandi getting the major share of minutes. Sadly to say though, if we can get Kandi, Cato may go on the IR (and I really like the way he's been playing). But Kandi gives great rebounding, decent offensive threat and good D, Cato gives all that too but the offensive threat.

Our 3 would be set with Posey, TMo and Hawkins, a great defensive rotation. Posey and TMo will provide some nice offense as well.

The 2 is pretty good defensively as well, with Mobley and Hawkins taking up most of the minutes, and Francis occasionally taking the spot if he and Daniels are both in.

The pg spot has Francis taking up the most minutes there, but I'd like to see his minutes decrease a bit to around 35 to 38 minutes. The rest of the minutes can go to Daniels. Daniels is a solid pg, pretty good defensively, not too bad offensively, and he can take care of the ball. Plus he's played with Duncan, so maybe he can show how to pass and play with a big man.

The only problem would be the pf spot. Griffin, Wilcox and TMo? Seems pretty weak.. both Griffin and Wilcox need to add some significant weight, and they're both still but up and coming players. But in a year or two Griffin (and TMo) will be a solid solid player on both ends of the floor, and Wilcox, well, from his college games he looks GOOD, and it'd be a gamble to see how well he'll become. But at least he'd get a lot more playing time with the Rox. I think that the Griffin/Wilcox rotation could be pretty fearsome in a couple of years, and that's probly when the Rox will be ready to seriously vie for the championship.

But I guess I could just be dreaming, I doubt we'd be able to really compete for Olowokandi. :(
And I doubt the salaries would work out. Oh well.

Nova, are you crazy? Out of so many players, you chose Kandi? Are you just joking? Or is it a typing error? Are you sure you choose Kandi???

Why not Kandi? There's probably something about him that I don't know... :(
Anyways, out of all those players I know Abdur Rahim, Robinson, Payton, Sprewell, Miller, Stoudamire, and Terry (who I would love to have) may be better picks, but there are reasons that I chose Kandi. All the players above are starters and scorers, and they have a need for the ball. We already have Ming, Mobley, Francis, and sooner or later Griffin who will be controlling the ball a lot, and role players are critical (I agree with the opinion that too many star players who want the ball is a bad thing). Also some above give good D (Payton for example), others give mediocre to horrible D (Abdur Rahim). Kandi gives solid D, rebounding and would be a nice backup for Ming. He isn't a major offensive piece so he probly won't demand the ball a whole lot (he could help lessen Ming's minutes a little). Plus as much as I love Cato and his crazy rebounding, Kandi does have more of an offensive threat than Cato does. Yeah, Kandi and Cato together on a team would probably be overlapping strengths, but oh well, and I admit I'm really biased towards some players. :p
Hmmm.... now that I really think about it...
