I came across this site that gives all the salaries of all the NBA players, I thought it was interesting to actually see some real numbers. It won't let my copy and paste so I have to type it, here is what is owed to the players (I didn't include this years, so it starts with the 05-06 season: TMac: (05-06) $15,694,250 (06-07) $16,901,500 (extension) MoT: (05-06) $9,100,000 (06-07) $9,750,000 Spoon: (05-06) $6,353,200 Howard: (05-06) $5,900,400 (06-07)$6,392,100 (07-08) $6,883,800 (08-09) $7,375,500 Wesley: (05-06) $4,950,000 Yao: (05-06) $5,594,905 (06-07) $7,273,377 Sura: (05-06) $3,500,000 (06-07) $3,800,000 Ward: (05-06) $2,040,000 Gaines: (05-06) $1,296,800 (06-07) $1,987,994 (07-08) $2,779,216 http://**************/salaries/houston.htm
I really hope we can move Howard this summer, he is going to cost us over $26M up until the 08-09 season. Hey atleast we aren't the Knicks.
Well, Patricias site is definitely easier to get to, but I like how hoopshype gives you the year by year breakdown.
Well it looks like we have a lot of expiring contracts. I really don't mind or care about how much Juwan makes. It'd be nice if he gave me some...I think Mo's contract is outrageous...well he was supposed to be good but injuries and etc... Juwan's doing fine imo..he can be a solid player for a few more years.. I hope we can somehow get some good players like Stromile Swift and Bobby Simmons..and draft some young players with potential..can we do it?
We really won't have much to work with this summer, but I think with Wesley, Spoon, and Ward coming off the summer after next, which will free up about $12-13M, we will have a lot of room. And MoT's contract will be up right when we need to resign Yao.
exactly, the contract length and amount pales in comparison to having the year by year breakdown that shows how much is committed up to about 7 years in the future. very easy to figure out how much expires and when. also i like the color coding for team option and player options and qualifying offers and such. which will free up about $12-13M, we will have a lot of room it may give us another 12 or 13 million we can spend on different players at that point but it won't put us significantly beneath the cap, if it gets us beneath the cap at all (which i don't think it does but can't remember exactly right now). a lot of our contracts are up within 2 years but by then yao gets his extension and for us to have any real significant cap room we would have to get rid of basically everyone but yao and tmac and maybe one other person, which isn't really feasible in terms of fielding a team the following year. our best bet, imo, is to use every expiring contract that comes along (wesley and spoon first, taylor next) to trade for talent to fill in around yao and tmac and then rely on the MLE for other FA acquisitions. edit: we're at 37M right now after that year but that's with only 5 players under contract and ming only listed at his QO of 7.237M instead of the max contract that will be starting presumable in the 11M range. if the cap doesn't go up much we won't have much more than the mle to offer and that's if we sign no one else. we could potentially be rid of mo at that point but who knows what type of salary we get back for him.
It's been said before, but if we trade Mo for an expiring contract of similar value- that much money comes off quicker, plus spoon's expiring contract-allows money to sign Yao to the Max, but not cap relief.... Field remaining team from role players and older veteran minimum contracts-short term of course, not like signing Ward for 3 years..
I have hoopshype bookmarked I know of three sources, hoopshype, Patricia's and clutchfans for the rockets contracts. All three are different for Sura & Ward's contracts. I wish hoopshype was right because that shows a team option for Ward next year.
Well, at least we're not the Knicks. Man we got to trade Juwan and MoT and Spoon. Has anyone seen Gaines? Damn it must be SWEET to be an NBA SCRUB.
The Knicks have like $103,000,000 due to contracts next season, the 2nd highest team has $90,000,000. What the hell are they doing in NY?
