I predict the Rockets will start off slow, just as they have the past couple of seasons, and then try to make things interesting after the All Star break. Remember the good ole days when we'd hit the ground running and make a serious early season charge? I guess that kinda play comes from a more veteran type team.
I know it is the start of a new season and everyone is excited, but it is time that we as Rockets fans and clutch city participants wake up and see that we aren't going to have a very good team. Fifty wins is absurd. We will end up winning 40-45 and we will all be on the bbs talking about who we are going to draft in the lottery next year. We have a good backcourt but with the depth and talent of teams in the west there is no way we are going to win 50+ games or make the playoffs ,for that matter. There is no way we can compete with teams like LAL, LAC, POR, PHO, MIN, UTAH or Sacramento. The simple fact is that our frontcourt is way too soft and unskilled, at this point, and this will be our ultimate downfall.
The Rockets start the season 14-0. Ends up 53-29. 5th seed. Make it to the Western Conference Finals and lose to the Lakers. Steve 22pts, 5.6rbs, 7.2asts, 2.1 stls, 0.5 blks, 25 technicals Cat 19.5pts, 3.5rbs, 2.8asts, 1.2stls, leads the ROX in FT% at 91% Rice 20.2pts, 4.8rbs, 45% 3pt FG CatoFu 7.7pts, 7rbs, 2.1blks, 1.1 b****es per game, plays in 70 games KT 10.7pts, 7.8rbs, 0.9 blk KW 13.2pts, 11.1rbs EG 8.6pts, 7.2rbs, 1.4asts, will get start for the last 30 games Taylor 9pts, 5rbs (YES! He'll be back by season end!) (DAMN! It's a severe headache making up all those numbers! How can you guys do it so often?)
Anyone who thinks 50 wins is impossible eat a d............................ The most important part of being a fan is optimism. I forgot to mention Steve beats Corey Maggette in the Slam Dunk Cato is traded midseason for Oliwakandi Cuttino makes the cover of GQ. K9 is linked to Gold Club. Fox and ABC outbid NBC and Turner Sports for the NBA. (No more Vescey or Ahmad Rashad)
57-25 99-92 margin First round victory Cato 2.3 blocks per game Mobley 22 points per game Francis 7.5 assists per game
I DISAGREE!!!!!!!! THE CLIPPERS??? All the Rockets have to do to make it into the playoffs (YES< THEY WILL BE THERE JOCKSTRAP!!!!), is show consistency. Clippers are a good comparison team, they were just young kids last year, and even though they did not win many games, they beat all those teams you mentioned. So dont say that we cannot compete with those teams. If the Rockets can blow out the easy teams, and run, run, run those veterans into the ground and win at least 50% of those games, they will be looking good come playoff time. THIS TEAM IS DEFINATELY BETTER THAN LAST YEAR!! We did not have depth last year, and Francis will only be stronger and more consistent this YEAR!!!!
51-31 Clipps sweep us in the season, yea sweep! We take 3/4 from the champs( a must do to have confidence in the playoffs) Utah takes 3/4 from us Rumors for a Maggette for Torres trade surface midseason We split with Toronto and Dream shows his age in plays Eddie earns starting job at the 4 Mo makes it back for the playoffs, barely! Sacramento beats us in first round of the playoffs 3-2
Originally posted by Toast We have a very favorable early season schedule, and should get off to a good start. If we do, we could win 50. If not, it'll be another frantic finish with every game "a must win if we're going to make up ground on" whoever's in 8th place. I'll go for 49 wins and the 7th seed, a game ahead of Minnesota. Phoenix fans scream for heads to roll and hang "Come Home Jason" banners the last few weeks of the season. Originally posted by Jockstrap Minnesota is slightly improved with Smith back, and the Clips are better with Brand, but both have most of the same questions we have, with a lesser backcourt and less depth. You can't be serious in saying they're among the elite teams in the west! Portland and Utah may slip even lower than they did last year, and Phoenix ... well, they could win 55 or 35. Can't compete? Give me a break. We can compete with all of them, plus LAL and Sac, although we're clearly inferior to those two. By season's end, we may be as good as a four seed, although inconsistency in the first half of the season will cost us any hope of a good seed. Best case: everyone healthy, happy, and productive. 55 wins and a five seed Worst case: injuries and bickering. 38 wins and five ping pong balls. My prediction: A few injuries and adjustment problems, but nothing un-Rudy-like. 49 wins and a 7 seed.
We will not lose one single, solitary game to the Spazz this year... ...............you understand me.
It all depends on three things this season for the Rockets. 1) Chemistry We all know how close Francis and Mobley are but two don't make a winning basketball team. You need all 12 on the same page and dedicated to doing the little things as well as their normal roles everytime they're on the floor. Chemistry only comes with time and experience. Let's see if this "new" Cato will start earning his $$ and pull his weight in the team. Having three major contributors to integrate (Rice, Willis, Griffin) will be a challenge in an overcrowded roster. Personally, I think having Willis back is a huge coup for us b/c he provides the locker room leadership and sets by example. 2) Paying attention Last year there were too many melt downs in games we had control of. We would have been in the play-offs if we won those games. 3) Decision making As long as the Rocks make solid decision on crunch time, eventually the 50-50 games will bounce our way. In some respect, this goes hand in hand with 2) paying attention. If they pay attention and make good decisions, then they've done all they can to win the 50-50 games. I'm always have the highest regards for Houston, so I expect them to win 50 games and bow out in the first round. There's no more rebuilding phase excuse to wash over us, we've done the time it's time to reap the benefits.
The Rockets will consistently lose to terrible teams, while surprising some of the top teams. They will once again feast on the east, with a 23-7 record. Again they will start off slow, and again they will heat up after the all-star break. This time however, they will keep that run going, with a surprisingly injury-free second half. They will make the playoffs as the sixth seed, ahead of the Jazz and Wolves. There, they will fall to the third seeded Kings 3-1.
Francis and Mobely will bring an average of 46 pts pg 16 asst 5.5 steals 12+ reb Rice will play half the season and avg 14ppg Morris will fit right in to the starting lineup and avg 11 ppg EG will look scared at first but will still pull 12 ppg, 6 rb, and 2 blk EG will play of the bench against the 2nd string Cato 2.5 blk 5 rb 8 ppg KT 10ppg 7 rb Willis 7 ppg 8rpg Norris and Torres will be energy of bench and be productive Rockets will be surprise team around the nba and on of the most fun to watch! 49-33 2nd round loss Mo back next year
49-33 with the 7th seed in the playoffs. Francis leads the Rockets in most statistical categories Rice surprises with a 15 PPG average Willis averages around 9 points and 8 rebounds a game in 25 minutes per game I'm not going to make any more player predictions other than these.
