Hey guys! I've been watching since the summer began the Rockets off-season moves. Do you guys think we are done making any moves? Don't we have like a MLE? Or a TE? Or did we use one of the other, or both? I'm really happy with the Battier move and getting Kirk Synder gives us a young body and a tall guard. It just seems like we have a short roster. Does anyone out there know any info and have any opinions on do you think we are done moving?

The roster really isn't as short as it may seem.

    1) Yao Ming
    2) Tracy McGrady
    3) Rafer Alston
    4) Shane Battier
    5) Juwan (Juwon for the spelling Nazi) Howard
    6) Chuck Hayes
    7) Kirk Snyder
    8) Dikembe Mutumbo
    9) Luther Head
    10) Steve Novak (seems like he'll make it)
    11) Ryan Bowen
    12) Bob Sura (he's practicing, but may not make it because of back issues)
    13) John Lucas III (offered a contract)

Last I checked, 13 is really not all that short on numbers. Two more quality contributors and we can move Bowen to the reserve and have depth enough for injuries. We have the MLE and large TE. If we get two players, we have a full squad. If we get one we're almost a full squad.

You don't need a link for something that was on the radio.

What about Evans(MLE), then sign with Lucas Ariza

    so we have

    PG Alston/Sura/Lucas
    SG T-Mac/Head/Snyder/Ariza
    SF Bettier/Novak/Bowen
    PF Howard/Evans/Hayes
    C Yao/Motombo

    what about this.

We have players, yes... I just don't think we have a ton of good players... and our bench play may be scary at times. See comments below.

Well he didn't really say it but I ASSUMED from after reading this. http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rockets_having_busy_offseason-184690-822.html

"We've still got the whole summer to improve the team and we're still looking to trade.

I'd be much more comfortable if we can get a couple more veterans," Dawson said. "We really got a style of play right now where it's going to be hard to come in as a young player and play on this team."

The Rockets are still in the market for a reserve point guard and reserve shooting guard.

But even if the team can't find those players, Dawson and his team believes that they are closing to the conference's top teams.

I think the Al Harrington saga is holding up a lot of other moves. Indiana is sitting there with a big trade exception. If they land Harrington, I wouldn't be surprised if the Clippers got involved and sent Maggette to Atlanta or somewheres else for the trade exception. I think we are holding our MLE waiting to see if we can get a trade worked out to bring in more pieces either by including our $4.2 TE in some kind of multiteam trade or else Howard and/or Luther are involved in some bigger deal. We let Flip walk to Detroit. They basically got him for about $1.8 mill of their MLE. I think once the Harrington deal is done, that moves will start happening. Everything just seems too quiet with hardly any movement at all even amongst free agents.

I still think we should go after F. Jones of the Pacers. He's a good enough enough to compete for the starting 2. He's also athletic, and can shoot the 3. He should be available especially for the TE, Indiana doesn't want any more contracts, especially a contract for a wing man.

Rockets don't really need Jones know they've got Snyder. Also Pacers are one of the teams reported to be in the running for Al Harrington. Jones is a restricted FA, it's unlikely they will move a good trading piece before Harrington is dealt to whomever.

Fred Jones is a 6-2 SG. We've got that player already in Head. If we are to sign someone, the player should give us versatility or a weapon. Fred Jones doens't make anyone around him better. 33.7% 3pt. percentage is not above average. I think you'd have to pass on this guy.
