I really do appreciate your opinions, but I was wondering why so many of your posts on Jeff Van Gundy and the Rockets are negative. I get the impression that you have something personal against JVG. — Jimmy D, Houston I think Van Gundy is doing an exceptional job in keeping the Rockets competitive while Yao Ming heals. However, throughout his coaching career (and probably more so in New York than in Houston), he has proved to be incredibly devious, manipulative, arrogant and not always as honest as he fervently claims to be. Ask Ernie Grunfeld (among others) just how much of a ruthless politician Van Gundy really is. Good coaches certainly don't have to qualify for sainthood, i.e, Bobby Knight, but while there's much about Van Gundy's coaching prowess to admire, his modus operandi is not always worthy of respect.
Rosen at his best Ok Rosen, throw out huge accusations regarding Van Gundy's supposed devious side and then tell us to ask Ernie Grunsfeld about those. Well that's fu*king great, I'll just quickly dial up Ernie and ask him. If you're going to be stupid enough to throw out an allegation like that, try extrapolating but I suppose that will always be too much to ask from this clown
what a douche bag. "I can't really give you any proof or examples of how much of a TERRIBLE HUMAN BEING jvg is, but just ask Ernie Grunfeld, he'll tell you." how does this guy have a job?
whats worse?!?! read the article i listed below...talking about how grunfeld and jvg were never exactly friends.... well apparently some sensationalist writers (the likes of rosen) were making hilarious claims that jvg was benching camby to get to grunfeld. ok rosen, so lets ask grunfeld: Grunfeld says. "We had respect for each other's talents, and that was enough. But then I would begin to read in the papers that he's keeping Camby on the bench just to get me. And the next day he would read, or hear on WFAN, that I was bitterly complaining to confidants about his lineups. "I'm sure neither was ever true. But it still inevitably created an aura of dissension around the team. It still created a mess." so since grunfeld says himself that this drama was baseless, then what's the big deal, rosen? hmm? http://www.villagevoice.com/news/9926,kertes,6770,3.html
People, do me one favor: Please don't bombard Rosen with emails. His bosses at Fox see them and they prove people are listening to him. Rosen's specialty isn't NBA knowledge. It's harsh rhetoric that inflames people. The reactions he gets are what keeps him relevent. We all know he's anti-JVG so just get over it. You will NOT win an argument with the guy. Let's grow up. Don't let the opinion of someone you don't respect affect your emotions so much. Maybe Clutch can set up a separate forum for Rosen bashing.
Ok, so what happened in New York, much of which was admitted by Grunfeld to be blown out of proportion, is the basis for everything your write about the entire Rockets organization NOW? That makes you a ****ty columnist and more arrogant and annoying than the person you are bashing. What a dumbass.
the funny thing is every player loves JVG. I mean you can't get better props then that as a coach no?
Reading this, I've lost the little respect I held for Rosen up to now. Basically he's freely admits that all the bashing he's given JVG about his coaching ability is not really about basketball, but is stemmed from his bias towards JVG as a person. And Rosen sees nothing wrong with this. Incredible!
that is not the real reason. The real reason is prabably that Rosen worships Phil Jackson and JVG does not.
Frankly, while I admire his honesty (basically admitting that he hates JVG as a person and that's why he continues to take endless shots at him, even when it has nothing to do with the topic), it still amazes me that he's willing to flat out admit it. Apparently his employers at Fox aren't too concerned about his complete lack of objectivity and willingness to use the power of the pen -- basically abuse his position as a sports columnist -- to serve his vindictive agenda. It really tells me more about the organization he works for than anything else...
Hm.... Fox Sports, might that be in some way related to Fox News? You know, the network of Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, the one that is trying to accuse Obama of being a terrorist? Not surprised at all that their sports division works the same way...
I think his grudge against the rockets had something to do with that article he wrote quoting a doctor friend of his about Yao Ming being afflicted with " gigantism" and rockets fans flooded the hospital where his doctor friend worked with e-mails. He must've been pretty pissed. I Guess that means we got to him first before he got to us. As they say " the only thing worse than hate is indifference". We should just ignore this Rosen character like he was an anonymous little insect.
http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2007/01/juwan_the_young_guns_and_novak.html Jonathan Feigen with a little insight to the whole mess between JVG and Rosen. Well really Rosen, since JVG probably laughs him off instead.
That was hardly even worth reading......I don't doubt Rosen...he knows the game, but those are all his opinions..... Nothing more. DD
I don't agree with rosen about anything he writes on the rockets usually, but he is right about JVG here. Already has shown not to tell the whole truth - The whole bonzi fiasco. Devious - Not playing vspan cause he never wanted him and was one of management's player's. Arrogant - All his recent comments about vspan ripping him. Manipulative - Just listen to any of his interviews and how he always likes to twists things and stuff. Just imagine how he is behind closed doors. A snake can't change its ways cause it's just their nature.
wait??? how can you defend spanoulis? he needs to shut up and jvg needs to shut him up. if jvg doesnt shut up vspan, then he isnt doing his job is he? what has he twisted in an interview? i think he's been pretty honest about things. when hasn't he? he handled the vspan thing really well. vspan needs to shut his mouth or go back to greece
