Team defense works. Sure they don't have the individual defensive stoppers. But as long as this team improves each game on its overall team defense, the Rockets will once again be known as a defensive team. The defense that wins championships. Speed is what is going to differentiate this teams defense over the rest of the league.
This is what I've been saying forever. We don't have 1 guy who could be considered a good man-to-man defender, therefore defensive rotation and teamwork is vital. While speed does help, team defense requires a lot of awareness and thinking, something I hope the Rockets can do well.
Great post, Zacatecus. You're exactly right. Once the Rockets commit to playing team defense consistantly, their offense will pick up, and they'll start winning much more. We've got quickness, and when we use that speed to play defense and help out every night, this team will kick ass.
True, true. Even when Glen Rice was playing (and sucking), he made up for it with decent help defense. If Glen Rice can make the effort, so can our youngsters.
