Anyone catch the show last night? This show is a friggin travesty! I was at the Dallas audition, and they picked someone that was totally unqualified for rock. I think her name is Zayra and she's smokin' hot, but she can't sing. She was off key throughout her performance and has terrible technique at both the audition and yesterday's show. I met some good musicians in the audition and had a blast. It's an absolute shame that they're turning this into a beauty contest. As far as the performances last night, they were pretty lackluster barring a couple. The most interesting and funny one was the bald guy singing "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones in a weird accent. It's almost like Right Said Fred doing a Mick Jagger impersonation. Out of the 15, I can honestly say there were 3 performances I actually liked. Dilanna from Houston sang "Lithium" and she had a good voice, good power and is friggin scary on stage (in a good way). There were also Lukas who sang a Billy Idol song and some other girl that sang a Jefferson Airplane cover. Overall, this show has a lot of pretty people, but the music is pretty disappointing. There are 2 people that I can root for, but I don't think the show is going to hold my interest. I'm probably not watching another episode until the finale. This show is a friggin beauty contest and the judges suck.
i didn't watch the first one (inxs) but i was pretty pumped for this show... jason newsted is awesome, and of course tommy lee and gilby clarke... but i agree, these performers are pretty week. most of them are "pop" singers and they can't hold the right key if they're even able to hit it. sad to say, these guys have nothing on american idol.
I'm only watching b/c Butch Walker's on it. He's already going to produce them and write the songs, why not just make him the singer and be done with it.
show blows. the first one blew...a little less, but this one, the singers suck and the band? I can't believe these guys would start a band just to be on a reality show. teh wurst! I mean this guys were in real bands, Metallica, Crue, G n R .
Show as pretty cool but I thought overall the contestants......I think I was pretty disappointed with what was presented. No real stars there in my opinion. I thought the best ones were the lady that sang Lithium, the lady that sang that Janis Jopplin song and the guy that sang Knockin' on Heaven's door. Those are the 3 that stuck with me. The guy that sang the Billy Idol song, he has the "look" of a rockstar, but I didn't like his voice. Some of those other guys? Good grief! Enough with the whiney vocals. I think the "3 Doors Down" auditions are down the hall. "Rock Stars"? LOL I was surprised at the number of ladies that participated. Almost 50% female.
Last years show was AWFUL, but of course, I watched every episode. Why, you ask? Two words: BROOK BURKE. Is she on it this year?
brooke is hosting this year also.... its supposed to air on tue/wed at 8, but they had the first show last night, and a repeat tonight.
Dilana was the best of the bunch last night... She's pretty hot too, I'd love to meet her personally.
I watched once last year...for a grand total of 10 minutes. While there are likely 100 reasons I could've/should've turned it off, what did it for me was referring to contestants as "rockers." What and who is a "rocker?" Not once have I heard a musician refer to another person of any musical integrity as a "rocker." Rock music...it exists. A "rocker," not so much.
anyone watch this tonight? i was flipping back and forth to the allstar game. i think the girl that did the courtney love impersonation is gonna get the boot.
Weird, the reason I was asking about 'search' was because of this thread. A few thoughts about tonight's show and the show in general: -The House Band kicks ASS. Great band, especially the drummer. -Brooke Burke's dress was kind of unflattering tonight. She looked....well...a little saggy. -I think Tommy had a few pops before the show. He was acting kind of weird. Did you see Jason's face when he told him to shut up? -Brooke Burke calls everyone "rockers" and it REALLY gets on my nerves. -All of the constestants look like American Idol rejects who went to a fashion designer and had themselves made over as "rockers". None of them stand out. They are all equally bland. And they all flash the "devil horns" way too often. -The chick that sang Ring of Fire was HORRIBLE. So was the Courtney Love karakoke singer. She said it was her thing, but Dave called her out when he said Courtney was holding flowers on her album cover. PWNED.
yeah they are all really really good.... that bassist got jason happy true... nothing like the picture from 4 posts up... or this one that was an awkward moment. tommy is a wild dude, and jason is more kinda laid back (in his older age atleast) i don't know about gilby, but i've wondered how this group would work out. i agree. dilana had them rocking last week, and she looks to be the front runner because they all seemed to enjoy her ring of fire rendition... it was crap though, i bet johnny is rolling in his grave from that version. but its gotta be between her, and punk dude lukas. also that courtney wannabe, when she came out in the dress and flowers i told my friend that she was doing exactly what love did (minus the drugs i think). then she tries to say it was her own style HAHaHAHA. there are way too many "top 40" singers in this group. they keep trying to tell the contestants what they're looking for in a lead singer, but they came back this week with more crap.
I think it's a pretty interesting show. Dave was on the rag yesterday. Tommy was in usual form - Duuuuuh as he drops the mic on the table. Gilby was too happy and Jason was in thrash mode. Most of the rockers tried too hard. I don't think this band will last. Prediction: The Aussie will win it.
Patrice was far and away the best last night - this whole thing is strange because there is no way she would actually front Tommy Lee's band.
Quoted for truth. I love watching that guy play. On a different board last week I said that it was Lukas' contest to lose. The way the band reacted, you knew he was their favorite. His song choice sucked last night, but he still did well. He's not my favorite, but he'll win.
