he is right. I believe that it came up in a thread that started to be about certain songs, and it got derailed into band name trivia...it was only a month or so ago. But technically, since the thread wasnt originally about band names....it doesnt really matter...carry on. while we are at it.. What is the reasons for the following names. ACDC Iron Maiden Puddle of Mudd
No, it was a thread started by me about band trivia, but it was over a month ago, and I didn't think it was that big a deal to start a new thread for three new bands.
I was thinking of the thread where the discussions about Skynryd and Zeppelin origins were discussed...it came about pretty near the same time as yours. I didnt see the reference to the one you started till after I posted . In a way, we are both right. No worries. and you are right, it isnt a big deal.
I'll answer that once you tell me if the MOAB's ever been used in battle. Oooh, one more time MadMax!!!
There was a thread a few days ago about the MOAB bomb we're testing, and it seemed that everyone who posted in the thread said that it hadn't been used in battle yet. I know, we're stupid.
AC/DC: Angus and Malcolm Young saw "AC/DC" printed on their mother's sewing machine. They liked the connotation of electrical power, but the sewing machine is where it came from. Iron maiden: A medievil torture device. People were put in a coffin filled with spikes. Puddle of Mudd: edit... got it. "The name came about as a result of some floods that hit KC a long time ago. The band practiced right next to the Missouri River and it came over the levy and flooded the bottom floor of the building. Luckily the band rehearsed upstairs, but the whole bottom floor was one big puddle of mudd. The name just stuck."~Paul Phillips
ah..ya found it...bingo on the POM one...that is the exact same one I heard. The ACDC one is also the most widespread version I have heard. I believe Angus backed it up in an interview a while back. as for the IM one..that is the device the name came from...what I was lookin for is the reasoning behind using that name.
Sorry about that, I hate being misquoted, but I actually was thinking of another poster when I went ballistic.
