Another tragic story http://nesn.com/2013/02/robert-swif...ter-bank-forecloses-sells-to-new-owner-video/
Not sure it's tragic. I mean I'm sure it's a bummer when your NBA dreams don't work out but he's young, healthy (albeit tatted to the teeth) and should be just fine if he wants to be.
True: making $20 mill is not very sad. I'll need about 400 years to make that much money, and I will be dead for most of that time. Now that's sad!
The kid had a bunch of bad luck with chronic injuries. However, I knew something was a bit off with him when the tattoos started getting out of control. It was sudden, and before that, he seemed to be a different person in interviews. I know that tattoos don't make you the person you are, and I have 12 myself, but there was a definite personality change. I wonder if he has any money left over at all.
There is undoubtedly a sad element to this. It's amazing what a factor money is on our perception of a person and their situation.
OT: Robert Swift will always be linked to (Mouhamed) Saer Sene and Johan Petro to me. Sonics missed on three centers in three consecutive drafts.
You can be sarcastic all you want. I couldn't really care less for him personally. I think it's sad how consumerism makes these athletes waste an entire fortune - and then brings out the animosity in the rest of us.
What are the stats 6/10 NBA players go broke. Just because he's white doesn't make this sad. Interesting though, I met this NFL football player that played for about 4 years mostly a bench player for the Vikings that got injured and had to quit the game, insurance is paying him 200K a year for the rest of his life. Wonder if that happens in the NBA.
Yes and he also clearly has some serious issues. Yes, he made far more money than most but right now you have a 26-27 year old man that is circling the drain and that is sad.
