Haha awesome. Kenny was trying to make himself feel important again and got checked instantly. Shaq and Barkley knew it was Maxwell from the get go and then Robert just verified it. Love how he couldn't slip that one past them. He said the reason he got the job because people listened. LOL as soon as Cassell showed he could do his job he took over and Kenny cried like a little baby, threw a hissy-fit and almost went awol on the team too mid-way through 94-95.
“Black Rudy”. Haha. Comments like that allow me to still forgive Barkley for his Rockets slights. So, who’s the inspirational “Rudy” of Rockets fans? It might still be Vernon. It’s close between him and @Clutch But I have to go with Vernon, only because Clutch would have drafted Harold Minor over Robert Horry.
@tinman what say you. The rest of the world remembers Kenny Smith differently than you back in his pre jet years.
Kenny always try to prop himself up from them rockets championship team but when they ask him if the rockets are his franchise, like Barkley claims the suns, he’s quick to say that aint my squad. I hate when he said “before it was all a Dream but when I Igor there it became a reality”. Who do you think you are? Dude is slick talker. I would never want him To be a coach for the rockets
Today 3 PM CST but you have to pay - Kenny (fake leader) and Vernon (true leader) https://brightlive.com/kenny-smith/champions-talk:-vernon-maxwell/TvOVzQ9UKjKeaLYBY88g Mario Elie follows Vernon in the pecking order. Kenny may have an edge on Scott Brooks.
I watched this last night and couldn't help but to laugh when they brought in Horry's clip as receipt/proof. Even when I watched those teams as a 12-13 year old I could see very well that the team wasn't led at any point by Kenny. Could he have been the team representative for the NBAPA? Maybe. Could he have been the guy the media went to for PC responses? Absolutely. But you watched those early-mid 90s teams and you know it was Hakeem and Vernon leading the way, then maybe OT, then Elie, etc. The other thing I've noticed is that The Jet has developed this schtick where, when Ernie asks him a question, he likes to just sit there and ponder and make it as if his answer/response is gospel. That indecisive face of his is insufferable. Like the question might be "Who do you pick to advance to the next round?" and he likes to take his sweet as time like the reasoning matters.
