Just recently heard "The Road Goes On Forever" and thought it was brilliant. My question is, does he always sing in a "storyteller" fashion? What are some of his other songs that are like this? If this isn't his usual style, what is his style?

    Thanks
    :)

I have both live albums, and West Textures. I've heard most of his other material as well. I really enjoy his stuff. In Texas it's hard for me to stomach the live shows, because Aggie frat-boy types tend to make hearing the show almost impossible. In NY the shows are really great.

Story-telling is one of his strong points, but there are other styles he uses as well from time to time.

Could you give some of the names of the songs that he uses the "storyteller" style. I love that type of music and want to get a sampling before I drop some ducketts on any albums.

A couple that I really like are Mariano, and Jennifer Johnson & Me.

Chorpus Christi Bay is a sweet one. Front Porch song is my personal favorite, though it paints a great Texas picture, as opposed to being totally in the story-telling mode.

    Good call...good song.

I used to not like country...and I still don't for the most part...but I like some of the "Texas Country" with Robert Earl Keen and guys like him.

    Don't know why...just do.

I really like REK. Dude has a typical storytelling style which is often funny and very descriptive.

The best album of his IMO is 'Walking Distance'

Although you really cant go wrong with any of his live material....

Same here. Pat Green, Cory Morrow, Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker. They're all good, but I have never really liked 'mainstream' country.
