Anyone here play Risk? My friends and I started playing a few nights ago, since then we've stayed up until 4am for three nights in a row playing!
The first two games I won, and then last night I conquered all of Asia, and built an alliance with Europe and Africa. I then took a huge gamble and attacked North America, driving the opposing army to South America. I almost had the game won, but my weakness was that my army was too spread out and defenseless. Then my friend who I drove into South America built his army up in one go, and charged right through Africa, Europe, and Asia, eventually winning the game! Oh well, they don't call it Risk for nothing.

How many people play Risk here? Got any world domination stories? Awesome wins? Spectacular losses? Strategies you wish to share?

Im a Rock em Sock em Robots kind of guy.

in our league finally am able to challange for the belt. but I usually play the blue robot, and the defending champ uses the blue one. My confidence is a bit rattled, but I am himing my abilities can outweight the curse of the red robot

Actually I used to completely love board games, and risk was one of them, but once i startd playing risk online it was so much quicker and more fun because all those annoying pieces that you step on barefoot, and vacume up are out of the equasion
I liked axis and allies more, but mad that took a while

and Honestly I have no idea the last time I played rock em sock em robots. I must have been 7 wish I had the game now though :)

    PEACE

Guys, there's a REALLY good online Risk game, and it's Houston-based:

    www.gamesbyemail.com

You can play your buddies, and you can play at your own pace.

If you need instant gratification (see the p*rn thread in BBS Hangout), try:

    clevermedia.com/game.cgi?worldconquest

    It's a Risk rip-off, but it's pretty fun.

I played Risk all the time in college. I think I won once, but we were usually so hammered by the end of the game it was almost always a "draw". :D Great way to annoy those pesky girlfriends.

I've never played online. I think having the board out with all the pieces is half the fun.

Anyone ever play Monopoly with real money? We kept it simple and started with $15.00 for ourselves (factored everything by 1/100) and put $15.00 in the bank. We anticipated playing well into the night and planned accordingly (beer, KFC, etc.). It was one of the shortest games ever and the only 'monopoly' was the two cheap properties (Baltic/Meditteranean). I manged to get 3 RRs early but no one ever landed on them.

Axis and Allies is the penacle of world domination board games. It did take a long time which makes it a little harder to play as you get older, but the game is sweet. I think they have an expansion pack for it now where you can produce more types of weapons.

Love Risk and Axis and Allies. Don't have the time to play them now with my two small kids taking all my time. I would love a compter version of Axis and Allies that was true to the original board game.

I bought RiskII not that long ago. It was dirt cheap, like 19.95 or less.

If anyone wants to play I'd be up for it. Let me know. :)

You can play Risk and RiskII games over at www.games.com

I like war games but have never played Risk. I had a game on Sega CD (no not Dreamcast...SEGA CD) once called "The Third World War" and it was great. I never have played a war game that has equaled it yet. You could attack any country, sign and make treaties and alliances, reinstate the draft, and a hundred other things. Anybody else play this game...hell does anybody else remember Sega CD?

I remember it, but never got to play that game. Have you looked for the emulated version?

Lil Pun is part of the second most exclusive company in the world, the people that actually purchased a Sega CD. The most exclusive company, of course, are the people that bought a 32X...

There was a computer version of axis and allies released a few years ago. You can get it from one of the places at this link for $6.

    Axis and Allies

I never played it, but a friend of mine told me it was pretty faithful to the game. I think I have a copy a downloaded from somewhere a long time ago. Send me an email if you want me to look for it.

No, the most elite company of all are those who bought a Turbo Duo (Turbo Grafx 16's final form).
