They at least helped to break the playoff drought. Let's pay tribute to these misfired-rockets. Pls share your favourite moments of these players
... Stevie Francis The first pre-season game against the Seattle Sonics. The play where Stevie croosed Payton over and shot like a 18-20 footer...Let me know that he was going to do damage...It was nice... Wearing the nice, classy suit when the Rockets got the First pick in the draft and eventually drafted Yao... Cuttino Mobley This one gets funny... During the 2004 NBA playoffs...when ABC replayed Cuttino winking into the camera after scoring a bucket...It fitted what Mobley has become in his own mind...A STAR...classic moment in my book...becuase they showed him winking from different angles in slow-motion... When he hit the game winner in his first regular season game or second...Barkley hugged him afterwards... Kelvin Cato The back to back triple doubles that got him that ridiculous contract, which at first i didn't like, but eventually, it was worth every penny...played hard all night and switched positions when Rockets drafted Yao... Those triple doubles were classic...he was foaming at the mouth like a rabid pitbull or Cujo... I WILL MISS YALL and WILL WATCH YALL NEXT YEAR AND FOR THE REST OF YALL's CAREERS... DUECE
I will miss them all. Steve - You were my favorite player since Dream left. Boy I'm gonna miss you. Cat - You made a name for yourself, not easy for a 2nd round pick and I respect that. Cato - how many times did the Catomic come up with a huge block or lay it up and draw the foul, you certainly dug yourself out of the "most hated" hole you were in a few seasons ago. Man i never thought about these guys leaving very much until now, I was so caught up in the T-mac hype. But is T-mac going to be around to wipe all the tears?
Cat - how many times can one player reinvent himself? Point guard for a star studded team to instant offense to deadeye straight shooter to defensive stopper. Whatever was asked of him, he did it for 40+ minutes a game with little complaint. Despite his flaws, many of which came about in my mind because he tried too hard, he was the consumate team player who always gave his all every game.
I'll Miss Cato the Most. Yes he had a bloated Contract, but he was a big guy who could block shots, Rebound and play good defense! Also he had good hands for a big guy!. oh ya, those allyoops are gonna be missed too .
My enduring image of Cat will be when he got smoking hot from three point land and just looked at his hands in disbelief.
I'll miss Mobley playing great D and swishing the three. I'll miss Cato showing his emotions after a blocked shot or ally-oop basket. I'll miss Francis knocking the ball off of his foot/knee/elbow/nose/person holding nachos when the game is on the line. I'll miss Francis blowing wide open layups on fast breaks. I'll miss hitting my refresh key every 20 seconds here the past week looking for more breaking news.
Did they die? "RIP" ...I was under the assumption they were alive and well, still making millions, and they'd be continuing to play in the NBA at a little city called Orlando. Check out the haiku thread by SmeggySmeg. http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79550 It's a classic.
