Before my time, but familiar name and a Houston legend.

Never forget sitting in bed as a kid listening to him broadcast the great playoff series vs Philly....its when I became a fan and have been ever since

We were lucky to have him and Milo for a great majority of our existence

    RIP Gene

    "There it is."

One of the greats. I grew up on Elston & Staats on my transistor radio.

    RIP.

Gene and Loel Passe were the guys I grew up listening to back in the 60's. Sad they've both passed. Great memories of getting my Astros baseball cards out, and spreading them out on the bed listening to the game on the radio.

Can still hear Passe saying "Now you chuckin' in there" and "hot ziggity dog and sassafras tea".

I used to listen to Elston for the Astros and Gene Peterson for the Rockets on my little transistor radio as a kid, too. I just found out today that Elston had passed away. I really don't follow baseball much anymore, but loved the Astros as a kid and always loved listening to the PBP of games while falling asleep in bed.
