Very sad to hear. While there has been a lot of property damage there has been little loss of life from these protest in the last week in a half. As the protester who was arrested in Minneapolis a couple of nights ago and interviewed said about the LEO taking him into custody said, "at the end of the day we both want to go home."
East St Louis is one freaking dangerous place. Thugs don’t play there, they will end your life in a heartbeat.
Saw this on Twitter. The most disturbing part was that the camera person simply filmed him instead of trying to stop the bleeding or perform CPR.
Sad news. I feel for his family. Was he shot by a looter or a cop? There is no indication in the article.
This is where journalistic ethics can get in the way. I remember there was photojournalist who had won multiple awards covering wars and famine in Africa. He won a Pulitizer for a photo of a vulture sitting near a child dying of starvation in Sudan. He said after he took the pic he chased the vulture away but felt it was important that he get that pic to show the World what was happening. He ended up killing himself because it was too hard to live with the things he saw.
I saw the PD released some video footage of the suspects. I hope his family can receive justice. 10 grandchildren
What I don't understand about all of the looting is, why is that the police are called in to rough up protestors and spray them with rubber bullets, but they don't seem to care too much about looting? How is this man by himself responding to this crime?
It looks like it's a question of man power. In this case, the looters seem to be a small group. The cops were likely busy with bigger groups of protesters/rioters/looters.
Sounds like you are grouping protestors in with rioters / looters. Doesn't make sense that you would put mass police force to deal with peaceful protestors during the day and let looting go unchecked at 2am in the morning.
We don't know what type of incidents the police were dealing with that night. But it did look like it was a small group of random looters Dorn was shot by in an otherwise quiet street.
Terrible news. Rest in peace, Mr Dorn. Any death caused by all of this madness is a death too many, as if the pandemic isn't producing enough death already.
So are we going to have some riots err..I mean protests and demand the killer or killers of this retired police officer be brought to justice?
I can't speak about all situations but I know in Minneapolis it was a situation of lack of manpower. While Target was being looted the LE were under seige in the 3rd Precinct. Other precincts were trying to hold down the situation near there they were.
