Alpert was the Defensive Coordinator for Huntsville during my HS years and a damn slave driver during off-season workouts. A good guy, a good coach. His wife was also my 10th grade English teacher and my thoughts are with her and the rest of the family. I don't think I've ever seen anyone happier than Coach Bob when his son was born... it made quite an impression on my young mind. Sad to see him go. ____________ Duncanville AD Bob Alpert dies 03:43 PM CST on Friday, January 9, 2004 By TRACY SCHULTZ / The Dallas Morning News Duncanville athletic director Bob Alpert, who as football coach led the school to its first state title in 1998, died at his home Thursday after a long battle with leukemia. Damn, it came at the expense of my high school in the state semis. They went on to beat Converse Judson that year. I don't know this guy, but he seemed like a good coach.
