    we're done.

this is the exact opposite of what we needed. losing this in the bottom of the 8th, allowing the reds to get 4 runs on 6 hits when they had scored 0 on 6 hits thru 7 innings is ridiculous.

nothing says "please put us out of our misery" more than blowing yet another late inning lead. the reds were able to get the same amount of hits in one inning as we were able to get in the whole game....

and of course garner taking huff out - the hitter responsible for 2/3 of our run production - seemed like an awful idea. as did taking pettitte out after walking one freaking batter, even though he was pitching wonderfully.

to hell with the 2006 Houston Astros.

    talk about a disappoinment.

    i am so sickened.

the astros are run by the biggest bunch of morons i've ever seen.

no other organization wouldn't have CUT brad ausmus by now, much less start him 4 days out of 5.

no other organization lets a complete joke of a 2nd baseman play as long as HE wants and hit .250 all the way until he reaches 3000 hits, just because he's a sentimental favorite.

no other manager puts out awful pitchers day after day and watch them fail, and wait until they cost you countless games before it even crosses their mind to quit putting them out there. miceli, lidge, munro, gallo, springer, wandy (who gets another start in a few days!), qualls, harville, probably about a dozen more in the garner era that i cant think of right now.

i'm just so fcking enraged right now, and i want ausmus off the face of this earth.

What a way to lose a game. I wouldn't get worked up over the Stros because they are just a tease this year. The last 2 years they had talent and potential to do damage, but this year they are spent. Bringing Ausmus, Everett and Biggio back proved they weren't serious about improving their lineup. Add to that the huge dropoff in pitching means there isn't much hope. You can stick a fork in the bullpen. They have nothing to hang their hat on. In 04, they had Betran, Kent, etc. Last year they had 3 rock solid starters plus Berkman and Ensberg. What do they have this year? Berkman, Scott (for now) plus what else? Unless the bullpen is comes back to life AND the hitting improves forget the Stros and look to next year.

Pettite was taken out because more likely than not, he was gassed. He had thrown a 120 pitches to that point. Notice Garner went to the mound first, instead of signaling right away to the pen.

I wouldn't put up the tombstone yet...let's see how the series pans out; I don't think anyone quite expected them to sweep, though would have been nice.

Did you guys see Garner during the postgame??? The guy said he was going to smack anyone who asked him the same question again then accused one of the reporters of jinxing the team because of a question. Wow.

Funny how last season, we started terribly and finished great.

This season, it seems to be the exact opposite. :(

I don't like our chances from how we are playing, but I'm not giving up yet. Not till we are officially eliminated. Though, this season is getting more and more painful to watch. Freaking crappy reads winning the WC with such a crappy record....and yet...we suck more. God the NL sucks.

    GO STROS. :(

so sad that Clemens came back to this punchless astros team. They almost are trying to lose, rather than actually trying to win.

I too think the Astros season is DONZO!!!! But to say that the Astros weren't concerned about making the team better in the off-season is complete Hog Wash. What options were there? If you don't bring back Ausmus, Clemens probably doesn't come back. If you try to trade Everett, you are taking away one of the games best at the most important defensive position on a team that has a GREAT pitching staff, that benefits GREATLY from having Everett at SS, and Biggio is still an average to above average 2B in this league whether you like it or not. Should he be batting 2nd? No, prolly more like 6th on this team, and 7th or 8th on a good offensive team.

If I were Tim Purpura I would give this team until Sept 1 to see if they have any spark, and if not, bring up Pence, let House see most of the duty at C, let Nieve close and see what we have for next year. I still think we have a good core for next season, it is just time we fill up for whats lacking. I personally would keep Everet at SS and look for replacements at C and CF for next season, and play Burke on the road and Bidge at home.

I mean yeah we all love the Rocket for playing for the hometeam one last year. But we suck like superhead, we suck like paris hilton with any male with a black card, we suck like babies with rooting reflexes. WE NEED BATS i dont even watch baseball anymore its just overall too depressing for me, i would rather watch championship darts.

Like I said before, it becomes easy -- even entertaining -- to watch the Astros lose when you finally realize that there is no hope left for this team. I made that realization a long time ago. Just like the Texans last year.

I was laughing when some dude called 790 this evening and said if they don't sweep the Reds they're done. Even funnier, someone in this thread said if they don't win the next two games ... ahh, fans love torture don't they? It's over, people. Over. It was over long before this game was played. Give it up. See the rest of the season as what it really is: meaningless entertainment. :)
