Riley is our seven-year old Lab/Staffordshire/(we think)Great Dane mix who is in need of a new home.

He is dog-aggressive (which is why we’re looking for a new home - long story, which I can explain) but he’s also been paired with another male dog his whole life and we’re starting to think they brought out the worst in one another. He’s currently in a kennel and earning rave reviews for his behavior. He's truly is a sweetheart and needs a home.

If you’d like to help, or want more information, please email me: hpfric@gmail.com.

    Sure; thanks for asking.

Exterminators didn’t fully secure our gate; Riley (and his brother, Spike) managed to knock the gate open and attacked a neighbor’s dog. The neighbors are insistent that they not be let back into the neighborhood, which we fully understand and have complied with their request. He’s been in a kennel since May 17. (We found Spike a new home a few weeks ago.) It doesn't help that Riley is a black, 80-pound slab of muscle.

Yes, the requisite, “He’s such a sweetheart” comes next – and I know, I know… But he is. In the right environment, I think he’d be a wonderful pet. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time he’s been dog-aggressive. Having said that, I truly believe at least part of his issue was being paired with another male dog. I think they brought out the worst in each other (though they always got along with zero incidents). I’ve noticed he has next to no interest in the other dogs in the kennel, and I think it’s because his s***-stirring PIC is gone.

    Anyway, that’s Riley’s story.
