So I'm listening to wingers rant and rave how they are starting a movement with the tea parties yesterday. A woman calls into Michael Berry's show and she is upset because there are no minorities at her party. And then she actually says, if people want to be know as African, then go back to Africa and see how you like it there, and she says the same thing about Mexicans. And rather than Michael Berry saying something like that may be over the top or whatever, he basically consoles the woman for her frustration.

I was stunned, and these people wonder the homeland security is putting out memos on them. I don't want to get into rather that report from the homeland security is right or wrong, but if these wingers on the radio can't see how they are flirting with fire they are blind. They are playing these people's emotions to further their ratings, along with our idiot governor making statements like we can secede they are feeding ignorance and waht's truly sad is the hypocricy of it all for not challenging bush and his out of control spending when the country was in great shape.

I guess I'm just ranting but I find it stunning that all these people are so upset now.

Many of these wingers in Texas, the Confederacy and Appalachia have been taking the brunt of the Reagan/Liberatarian onslaught on their living standards and are getting increasingly frustrated especially during this economic crisis. We see the usual suspects trying to benefit from their frustrations. We saw it during the Palin rallies.

On a more hopeful side we saw some of their potential allies seeing the light and voting for Obama and the moderate return to supporting the middle class he stands for.

Was she talking about the term African-American being idiotic for describing a race? Cause if so I agree with her.

Yeah that's what I said. You should get a job on the right-wing radio show as a fact checker, you are around their skill level.

I am ashamed to admit it, but I listened to and enjoyed right-wing radio back during the the days of the Clinton presidency. What turned me around is how these kooks then defended every moronic thing George W. Bush did after he was elected. Then I figured out these liars were nothing more than right-wing GOP hacks who had no interest is true, honest discussion. They have basically soiled themselves the last 8 years trying to defend the indefensible.

And their behavior since Obama was nominated and elected is so over-the-top Looney-Tune that it hurts my ears to listen for a short period of time. The hosts don't dare berate people when ignoramuses call in because they can't afford to alienate such a large segment of their listeners. They have to pander to stay on the air. On the other hand, if someone from "left field" calls in, the gloves come off.

For me, right-wing radio is like intellectual p*rnography. It titillates and arouses people that listen to it and they can't stop themselves because it's addicting.

I used to listen to this theology program on Saturday Mornings about 6 years ago. It was more on the study of religion and history than a church show. I wish I could remember this woman's name but she said on of the most profound statements I've ever heard on this subject. It seems so simple but until you really grasp it, listening to these guys is pointless.

These guys aren't there for discussion, they are there to push an agenda.

    lol, reading is basic.

that's not what he said at all.

he said, IF she said <filler> THEN he agreed with her about THAT.

From your description though she said a lot more than just that.

First,I don't listen to the radio when Berry is on, so I have never listened to his show. But the woman as you described certainly does sound frustrated.

However, you know as well as everyone else does that that sort of sentiment is in no way representative of anything more than a miniscule fraction of 'wingers', as you call us.

I wonder, though, if you have bothered to watch any of the videos of the lovely human beings in groups like Code Pink, peta, ad nauseum.

Us 'wingers' are duffers at 'hatred' compared to the savants on the left.

    Not like it matters anyway.

"All lies and jests, still a man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest." - Simon

People see and hear what they want to hear, what makes them feel good and comfortable in the world and they way they choose to perceive it. I'm no different, neither are you. No one is.

People have given up caring about actual right and wrong, and now only care that their own opinion is the dominant one. So does it even really matter any more?

I don't listen to the radio unless it has something on about the Rockets, Texans or Astros.

But doesn't the bible say when you give to the poor don't let your left wing know what your right wing is doing?

    (good morning all :) )

I'm actually a pretty big Berry fan. He seems to be pretty fair most of the time. I can't really comment on the conversation you are refering to as I did not hear it.

Of course, you're right. Most political conservatives (I really try not to use the term "wingers", as it's just as denigrating as "lib-pigs" and doesn't foster meaningful communication) don't feel the same as this lady. She was on the air presenting a radical and offensive viewpoint. What bothers me, as a liberal, is that the host of said talk-show never said anything about it. He didn't call her on her absurd comment and say, "No, ma'am. These people have just as much right to stay in this country as you or I". His silence is tantamount to endorsing her viewpoint, and THAT is what angers people.

Dead wrong! You only speak for yourself, not "people". If you and nutcases in the left and right ditch "have given up caring about actual right and wrong, and now only care that their own opinion is the dominant one", so be it. Those that scream the loudest don't actually represent the majority. But it is sad that a notable minority are like you.

And a host that comforts the racist rather than chiding her. Only on right wing radio. Poor white people.

    And you're one of them.

If the answer is that woman's an ******* and so is Berry, cool. If the answer is "no big deal," as you and Nero and Casey say, you are an ******* too.

And an embarrassment to America. Congrats!

exactly, that's the point I was trying to make, i couldn't believe the host didn't say anything about the go back to africa comment. she wrapped it up in, you live here you should love this country, blah blah blah, but still that's a very offensive thing to say under any qualifications.
