Not surprising and I'm sure we'll hear more of this.

    November 14, 2013

Yesterday, the House Homeland Security Committee published a video on their Youtube page highlighting a portion of the committee questioning Roberta Stempfley, acting assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Cyber-security and Communications, who confirmed at least 16 attacks on the Affordable Care Act’s portal Healthcare.gov website in 2013.

Roberta Stempfley highlighted one successful attack that is designed to deny access to the website called a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. A DDoS attack is designed to make a network unavailable to intended users, generally through a concerted effort to disrupt service such as repeatedly accessing the servers, saturating them with more traffic than the website is designed to handle.

Right wingers have been distributing the link to the necessary tools to perform the attacks on the Healthcare.gov website through social networking, as pointed out by Information Week , and other websites .

The name of the attack tool is called, "Destroy Obama Care!"

"Destroy Obama Care!", that's the advertised name given to the attack tool by "right wing patriots" who are distributing the DDoS tool through downloads on social networks, which promises to overwhelm the Healthcare.gov website.

"This program continually displays alternate page of the ObamaCare website. It has no virus, Trojans, worms, or cookies. The purpose is to overload the ObamaCare website, to deny service to users and perhaps overload and crash the system," reads the program's grammar- and spelling-challenged "about" screen. "You can open as many copies of this program as you want. Each copy opens multiple links to the site."

"ObamaCare is an affront to the Constitutional rights of the people," it adds. "We have the right to civil disobedience!"

I'm not saying that it's wrong for a poor person to see a doctor, but if someone said it was right, they might be a communist.

Can we really afford to take that chance?!

Also, do you know who performs most abortions in America? That's right...doctors! I'm glad some patriots are thinking of the children and saving America's poor from the oppressive jackboot of Stalinist medical care.

I don't think a hacker does anything for any reason other than their ego. Also the main political struggle has shifted from liberal/conservative to statist/anarchist.

You think so? As someone with a lot of leftist anarchistic sympathies, I do not see that being where the debate is happening on a national scale.

...at the people who deserve to have it pointed at them. That is exactly what we have been doing, it isn't our fault that you are unable to mete out blame to the people who deserve it.

Maybe, maybe no. Question is, if they hadn't, would it have worked better?

If it is true, surely there's a provision in the 'Patriot' act for bringing these people in by the curlies.

I'm not even a computer programmer, and even I can see they BLEW IT with this website. What were the programmers smoking when they made it? Liberals should be happy conservatives hacked the website (if they did). They exposed underlying problems that needed to be fixed anyway.

There are a decent bit of right wing engineers. More on the libertarian side.

I'm fine with the hacking attempts, a program like this needs to be secure, the sooner they shore up any weakness in security the better.

DDOS attacks aren't really about security, but rather proper use of load tolerance and balancing.

Any simpleton could run one with a proper app, but that does open up to these idiots downloading real viruses and other malware.

This Dem meltdown over PPACA is entertaining.

Hint for the Libs: The problem with O-Care is not with the website. It's the law itself, as so many millions are finding out, and many, many millions more will find out when the employer mandate kicks in. You think it's bad now that a few million are losing their plans? Wait until employers start kicking people off in droves to save some $$. Incentives matter. And there will be a whirlwind to reap from it.

Your woes are just beginning, libtards. You OWN this boondoggle. Try and blame it on us all you want, but it won't work. YOU'RE SCREWED.

California Republicans have stooped to a new low* in their ongoing misinformation campaign to turn voters against Obamacare. Instead of sending constituents to CoveredCA.com––the official California health insurance exchange site, Republicans created CoveringHealthCareCA.com which poses as a hub for health care information but just contains negative information about Obamacare that could be discouraging people from obtaining health insurance.

California GOP creates fake health care website to discourage constituents from obtaining insurance

California Republicans are desperate and shameless. In the past two weeks, GOP Assembly members have sent mailings out on what appears to be the state's dime to their constituents about health insurance. Only, they don't direct those people to CoveredCA.com to sign up. Instead, they send them to their own astroturf version with the url CoveringHealthCareCA.com.

On their version, there are links to negative articles and twisted messages intended to sour people on signing up for health insurance before they ever land at the official health exchange site.

If you click on the "Don't have health insurance" tab on the front page, you're taken to a page that puts all the focus on the penalty and none on the benefits. In fact, they have a "penalty calculator" on that page, rather than a premium calculator.

True a site that isn't meant to actually do anything and is a negative parody of a site that is meant to do something is probably a lot easier to set up and cheaper.
