Imagine being dragged into court and facing 2 weeks jailtime because your kids are laughing and screeching while playing in the backyard.

Sounds like it could have been handled better by just asking the parents to tell their kids to keep it down.

And if they didn't tell their kids then lean over the fence and yell directly at the girls to STFU !

    :D

Teach them some good ole plumber language......

It sounds like the Kostakis got what they wanted. The parents will try to keep the kids' volume down and the kids will take it more seriously because of the case, even if it was thrown out. I can see knocking on their door and asking to tone down the noise would have no effect.

I'd just get a few pit bulls. Tie them next to my very thin and weak plywood fence.

Agreed. I'm sure they knew this complaint would get them nowhere officially, but should have, at least for the near-term, the desired effect...

They should just do what most normal people would do in this case:

Kill the children and dismember the bodies.

My dog whines mercilessly when he is in my backyard and wants to come in the house. I know for a fact it pisses my neighbor off. Now I wonder if I may have to go to court for it someday.

If I was their neighbors that would be the time I practice Steve Vai tunes in the backyard with my amp turned to 11.

Sounds like a really nice neighborhood. Ten years ago my neighborhood was really noisy, but we had trouble getting people to sign a petition because apparently they feared for their lives. the constant two time a week drive by's and late night parties by the neighborhood gangters was extremely annoying. Not to mention the sirens, heck even the choppers would make an appearance every 3 or 4 months.

See I have a dog too but when he barks or does something too loud I open the door and tell him to stop or I bring him in for a bit. I don't like bothering my neighbors because I don't want to have to hear form them and I don't like being bothered by other's pets kids so Itry not to do it to them.

In regards to the kids with the pool. I am sure the neighbors have told the parents before about this and they were ignored. Most people just don't go call the cops. It is sad the plumber had to deal with it that way but what choice does he have.

I also hate parents that don't do anything to stop their kids form doing dumb things.

Living on 5 acres has it's benefits. ;) I just can't stand living in a subdivision. It's either kids, dogs, solicitors.....etc.

    that's soooo crap

i'll take happy kid's laughter over gunshots, tire screeching, sirens and helicopters that i've had to listen to iver the years any freakin' day

they're children. having FUN. let them find out about the BS that comes with being 'adult' later

i'd give mister tightass plumberman a noise war he wouldn't believe after that petition stunt

yes but there are limits to everything. I hardly think it is children laughing that is the problem. i think everyone here has heard a young girl scream as loud as they can. Now imagine that for an hour straight every day when you live next door. That crap gets old quick. I imagine the guy is not telling the kids to be silent just not let out a banshee yell every time.

I was at a rockets game where I had a mom and two young girls with her. Every time a player was introduced she would do scream as loud as she could. It wasn't a "yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." it was "Oh my god this man is trying to stab me to death" scream After the 4th rocket the mom told her she is allowed to do that one more time during the game and that was it. She saved it for a big play. I felt that was good parenting letting the kid do it here and there but realizing she is bothering others if she did it all the time.

i hear yah bigserv; i'm all about good manners, keeping bratty kids in check, respecting your elders etc but also working stuff out w/neighbors if at all possible; as a 'good neighbor' i'm going over there to talk it out with the folks not drum up the whole neighborhood against them

it's hard to say since we can't really know the history between them; maybe the parents were talked to about it; maybe they were complete inconsiderate pricks about it and encouraged the daughters to be even louder; impossible to know

but just from the surface read of the article, it seemed excessive and i'd side with the happy kids over the grumpy old fart unless all the history/facts justified otherwise
